TH2GO Digital vs 3-DV Ports on GPU

Well, I've got some time to come up for air...  November is a bad month for work.  We have what amounts to 15 work days over the space of 30 days but still have 30 days worth of work to do.

I took advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday to upgrade my visuals.  I debated long and hard, and 65" LCDs weren't getting below my self-imposed $500 mark so took the leap and bought three Optoma GT1080darbee projectors.  I also bought the material to rebuild my screen so that I can take it apart and ship it when the next move comes.

I also ordered a new graphics card.  Couldn't make myself pay the exorbitant amounts they wanted for the GTX1080 Ti, but after some research it turns out that the new RTX2070 performs just as well, and even has a better passmark score.  It was also cheap enough that if it doesn't work out in my main visual system I can put it into my MIP system.

So... opinions...

Should I run the projectors in 5760 x 1080@50Hz through the TH2GO Digital or,

should I run 5760 x 1080@60Hz through the GeForce RTX 2070 GAMING OC 8G?

Do I gain anything sticking with the TH2GO or should I just retire it and feed my projectors from the card?


oh - incidentally, the day after I bought my three projectors I stopped by Costco and they had 65" thin bezel LCDs for $450...  bastards.

LOL Warren, isn't that always the way it goes..  Sucks sometimes doesn't it...
I personally would get rid of the TH2Go and stick just with the video card, but thats me.

I like the th2go just because of the fact that it only uses one port on the graphics card.
However...............if you don't need the extra ports I agree with Trev.  The th2go has extra drivers running ontop of the graphics card drivers. The more layers of software on a system, the less clock cycles going to fs.

I heard a rumor that the TH2Go only ran at 30Hz. Is that true?

Not sure about the original analog TH2Go.  It is VGA and only supports up to 3840x1024.  That's what I'm actually using now.

The digital versions (newer with DVI) support up to 5760x1080 at 50Hz.  I have one of these running the screens in my MIP.  I might swap the analog one to the MIP in order to try out the digital version with the visuals.

I also have at least one digital Dual Head to Go.  Not sure how I've managed to collect these things over the years...
