Did they fly that route on one engine? If not, how does this test ETOPS? Isn't ETOPS the ability of a twin engine plane to fly on one engine & reach a suitable alternate located a given distance away based on the type of ETOPS certification?
If they flew with both engines, then I really don't understand the point of this. My guess would be that they flew part of the way with both engines and then shut one off when they were X miles from an airport, flew to that airport and then did the same later on. That would make sense I think.
