Eureeeeka!!!

Many thanks to you all for your help with the stutter problem. We are stuck with 32 bit because the instrument circuit boards are 32 bit and we cannot get 64 bit boards, so this is an evil that we have to live with. As with everything in FSX, we have to work around problems when they arise [yes, we probably should have stuck with FS9]. However, we now have crisp scenery, which was the reason for going to FSX, no stutters, shimmer or spiking. It renders beautifully smoothly even flying into Heathrow at dusk with AI sliders on 75% - we are indeed happy bears again.

So what was it? One word, VATSIM. I have no idea why, but when VATSIM was uninstalled the stutter went. I know that their FSInn prog can be obtrusive but we did not expect the stutters, which we have been living with for 9 months now, which was about the same time that we joined VATSIM [yes we should have realised......].

Thanks again to you all for your breathtaking responses, I have learned much about visuals which is great as the MTH2go is ready and working. Here is our repainted G-APDF and the single screen which will soon be a thing of the past. Onwards and upwards - Thanks, Charlie.

Post Script: As a debt of gratitude to you all, I develop for all things FSX, specialising in gauges and AI, but a multitude of other stuff as well. Now our sim is not governed to the Comet, we can select any aircraft from SimObjects and fly it [When Mike is not looking, I fly my chopper in the sim and it works fine, checking out the scenery we built of course!].

So for you twin jet jocks, you might like to try this, which is the Cactus 1549 Miracle on the Hudson flight. I wrote this after the TRACON FAA tapes were made public, so there is an audio to play with it, the real ATC tapes synchronised to your flight which I recreated with the real FAA data. It also puts into question the impossible turn [return to Airfield post engine failure]. Have a go and see how far you get - oh, all my stuff is free!

It is 3/4 down the page and aimed at Airbus A320 drivers.

Have fun and thanks again to you guys, without you we would still be stuttering our way through the airways. Charlie  :)
