I was always a bit frustrated by the lack of visibility while looking to the right side because the MIP gets in the way but I now see real 737 pilots face the same challenge since the captain seems to have to stretch to look out to the right.

Also, for a visual approach, the visibility seemed rather poor when he was in base & turning final.

Anyway, I thought that was interesting because I have been practicing my landings at Innsbruck and it's nice to compare with real operations:

This video is also really great as you get a good sense of how quiet the NG cockpit really is, you really can't hear the engines on approach at all. Just a bit of wind noise and the reversers engaging. Only heard the engines when the reverse got up in N1.

Happy practising!  :)

Just curious Rene about the visuals in your sim. Looks like 3 projectors but I could not tell if it was 120 degrees or full wrap around visuals.
Regardless, that is one heck of a nice simulator.

Thanks,

Your right. Cant see much at all in The 73.  Basically when you look over to the opposite side, the top of the glare is basically touching the horizon. Thats why you should always have some type of vertical and horizontal guidance. LNAV/VNAV for example. Even when shooting a visual.  Good landing comes from a good approach and at 165 kts in an 800 theres not much room to be floating down the runway. Btw ideal touchdown time from 50' to touchdown should be 7-9 seconds.

Thanks Mike. It's always very nice to hear from you since you always bring a real life perspective to real life problems/issues that airline pilots face every day.
Blue skies to you   (diet coke of course  ;D

No problem!

This always reminds me of when i was flying Learjets 10 years ago or so at my old job. Bunch of pilots were at a company training session. Think we were on the topic of TCAS and RA's. A new hire starts complaining how the visibility out the Lear window is so bad and when you get TCAS warnings you csn never see the traffic etc...  Chief pilot lets him rant on for a few and looks over to him and says... "Its time to put your big boy undies on, your flying jets now" lol!!

Just sayin :)
