I just had the time of my life taking off & landing back in this airport located in the Kingdom of Bhutan (who ever heard of Bhutan??  ::). It makes landing in LOWI a piece of cake. Here is a link to the description of this airport (PARO) :

http://www.simtours.net/paro.php

and here is a link to the only VOR/DME chart I could find for this airport:

http://simcharts.org/mapy/NonEurope_13_2010/VQPR_13_2009.pdf

Also, there is add-on scenery for FSX which I haven't loaded yet but it looks pretty good: http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=vqpr&x=5&y=9

and also for FS9: http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=vqpr&x=12&y=16

Anyway, landing there with lots of cloud cover was a lot of fun. I'm 100% positive you will love it as well.

Maurice is this the same Airport seen on NatGeo just a while back? It was a show about this Airport and how difficult it is too land there, as well as how the whole town survives because of the flights going in and out.

In fact, everytime a plane lands the whole town comes out to unload cargo and greet passengers... Will try to find this episode info for you. In either case, this is really great what you're doing.

Hey Maurice,

Yep, Paro is the most challenging airport I've ever taken the NG into (aside from having fun at airports not normally served by mainline jets, like Beef Island and St. Barths). A real treat.

Here's a recent video of a takeoff and landing there in my sim:

Okay, it was close...actually what came to mind was the crash at Nepal in an Otter where 18 people died, and then some of the bodies were taken to Paro afterwards.

In any case, the Nepal would be good for the GA guys to tryout at 9000ft RWY in the Himalayan Mountains.

Here is a link to the video from NatGeo:

Thanks BSD. Here is a link as well to real approach procedures published by Boeing
which shows technical demonstration flight in Bhutan

Hi Chris,

Actually, it was your video that inspired me to look for that airport. I just subscribed to your channel and I was just about to post the link to your videos as well. Fantastic simulator you got there and great videos as well.

I was also going to ask if anyone knew who you were since the name was not shown on youtube. I wanted to know because I wanted to ask you what scenery you use and what version of FS as well. The FSX scenery I downloaded is not nearly as nice as the one in your video, so are you using FS9 & FS9 scenery?

Anyway, you seem to be a great pilot with great landings in a great simulator. Congratulations!

Hi Maurice,

Thanks so much for the kind words. I lurk on here pretty regularly, but don't post too much... "real" life keeps me pretty tied up, and flying the sim fills in the gaps.

Anyway... the scenery. I'm using FS9 and the great Paro scenery from Thai Creation: http://secure.simmarket.com/thai-creation-kuzu-zangpo-bhutan_paro-intl-vqpr.phtml

It's OUTSTANDING scenery, but as far as I know, for FS9 only. It really captures the feel and immersion of the whole Paro environment... at least from the real Youtube videos I've seen of this place.

For the price, if you're using FS9, I'd highly recommend it.

Glad to see that you are enjoying your wonderful airplane.
(Right now I am still tightening nuts and jealous to be "grounded")
Good 4U!

Pity that it is only for FS9 as it looks so much better then the free FSX scenery. Can't find any payware for FSX. I wish Fly Tampa would create some as well as they did for Innsbruck.

Anyway, glad to see you around here from time to time.
