Still wiring..
Any of you found a neat way to tag cables with info on what it links to?
Someting better than handwriting on masking tape !!  :D

Ive used a dymo label writer in the past. You can set different fonts and letter sizes as well which is great.

I don't know if this would work for your application, but most electronic and electrical supply houses carry wire markers that are made cloth tape.  They have a white background and black numbers or letters.  I've used it on a number of sound system installs.

I have a neat machine that writes directly on special shrinktube. But... I prefere the masking tape anyway...
Quick, easy and editable  ;)

Jack this is also why we used Network cables. You only have to label the outer wire and then just write down a chart for the colors of the inner wires.

In our case, we used group 1, group 2, group 3, and so on. Thus, we used a Dymo Letter Tag (hand-held) (www.dymo.com). You must use paper tape and not plastic, as plastic will pop apart after a while.

You would only have to label two times per cable. However, if you're doing the twisted wire act, you could just label the bundle, as well as use a marker to write on the back of the MIP and Overhead for location code names; no one will see the markings. Plus, there is no need to label every wire if you keep a good chart...
