Tonight, the two members of us here at BSD team did something new...we both flew together. Or, we both were in the cockpit together, where usually it is just one of us who is the main person (those that know us, know who that is).

Anyway, since the sim has been flyable we've never got in the cockpit together, nor did we ever notice a big factor that might make a difference to the non-motion of the sim, and that is the feeling of perceived motion. With a person in the FO seat, and then flying you will notice (indirectly) the distance of the depth of field. From your immediate view to the middle distance of the FO, then the far distance of outside the window behind the FO. While looking from one to the other and having to speak with the FO from time-to-time, you start having the feeling of movement because of the non-focus factor or motion blur.

Thus, after a flight from KORD to KMSP, we both had our stomachs in our throats! After a year of having been in the cockpit, not once was this noticed. So, the point is, if you can have another person fly with you, and if your sim is setup fairly well, you should experience the same effect.

Of course our setup is 3 projectors on a curved screen, so a single projector or flat screens might not give the effect. Althoughe, the 3 projectors might give you the "screening" effect, but once you forget about that and have that "distraction factor" (that's what we call it), you'll then see why those 3 projectors are worth having, and why you might need air sickness bags...

...which proves once & for all that we are all a bunch of sick puppies. When someone talks about air sickness as being something to strive for, then it's obvious that the line has been crossed between this being a hobby and this being a sick juvenile obsession.  ::)  ;D
