I found an old magazine this weekend that has an article about NASA retiring their 737, which as it happens, was the first ever 737. Ever! Quite interesting.

It had a second flight deck in the main cabin, where most of the experimental flights were flown from, with a crew up front, just in case! They used it to develop glass cockpit technology, among other things.

She now sits at the Museum of Flight, Boeing Field, Seattle.

Hi Shawn,

Many Thanks for uploading the pictures - really interesting !
The CDU was hidden between the captains legs so the jump seat instructor could not peck on him for wrongly programming the route  ;D   ;D    ;D

Interesting controls too.  Is that one for each hand?

Cool pic!,

I could be wrong but i believe this aircraft had 2 cockpits!

The normal one in the front and a second one in the back. I believe they used it to develop the the glass cockpit stuff for in the 757/767.

I think the second cockpit had joysticks too!!

I i find the picture i will upload it!     Found it!!!  http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:NASA_515_Cutaway_Model_of_B-737.jpg

The picture of the cockpit the test cockpit, the front is a normal 737-100 cockpit.
