Hi all

I have a problem with my solenoid starter switches in Pro Sim.  I can get them to hold but not release. Could someone please guide me in the right direction. I have them working well in Ifly737.

I use Sioc script.

Hi mark,
How did you wire them? Do you use sioc with prosim also?

Edit:
If I learn to read I wouldn't have to ask you about that. :-)

I think you should remove the logic within the sioc script when using it with prosim. Just assign the variable to the relay input and call that variable from prosim.

I might be wrong. I'm not used to sioc.

Hi again Anders

Your suggestion is my last attempt to get the solenoid to release.

If anyone else knows the definitive answer, I'd be very appreciative.

There are two solenoid boxes under gates. One says solenoid. One says solenoid push, or something like that!  Not quite sure which to use and how to reference the solenoid in my script.

If prosim logic manages the solenoid release, is it dependant on another Var being correctly identified in the config?

I use a FSC throttle and apart from the speed brake problem the fuel cutoff switches work fine so I guess thats not where the problem lies.

Guess I should post on the prosim forum, but thought enough peeps here must have set your solenoid up in Prosim.

Thanks again

You should use the box named solenoid. The solenoid push is ment for other constructions.

Try that and just define the relay output to a variable. No logic inside sioc.

Thanks Anders

I'll give that a go.  I've just read on the Prosim forum that you should use the solenoid pushback box. I'll try both and see how it pans out.

If I recall, pushback is for constructions where the solenoid pushes the switch back to off. In my switches the solenoid holds the switch in GND.

To quote you "If I learn to read I wouldn't have to ask you about that"

Yes that makes perfect sense, your solenoid holds the switch not pushes it.

Right I'm on the rights track

Cheers Anders

I've just tested prosim with just the Var in the script. The solenoid holds the switch but doesn't release it.

I wonder if its the OC card as it has two connections for two states on startup. Pos 1 is relay closed, Pos 2 is relay open.  At present I have it wired as Pos 1 relay closed, so the solenoid is on when the card is started.

It works this way fine with IFly as I have logic in script.

Just a thought : )

There you have the problem. You should wire it to the NO on the relay. Not NC.

Try that!

Thanks anders
Just tried that with no luck
I can see the solenoid function turning on under pneumatic in the monitor tab in prosim but the swith doesn't hold1

Can you verify that the relay closes when you turn the knob to GRD?

If you have an multimeter I would check so the solenoid gets powered when you turn the knob to the left.

Also have you checked so all inputs from the rotary is correct? Check prosim software ovhd and verify the switch turns when you move the knob.

ANDERS
Switch turns to GRD in Prosim ovd Panel and in the config. check in the sioc monitor and does not arm the solenoid. When you wire the solenoid, it doesnt matter which way the wires are connected does it?  I'm talking about the two wires directly from the solenoid.
if i click on the relay card on/off in sioc monitor it does what it should.

Ok good! Then everything seems to be wired correctly. Solenoid is not polarity sensitive so it doesn't matter.

So do you mean that the solenoid works good when you toggle the relay on/off manually but when connected with prosim it doesn't activate it?

Ok. Good.

Is your computer hooked up to Internet with a remote desktop program? Like teamviewer?

I can have a look to see if I find anything that is not correct.

You have my email. Send me the ip and pass if you want me to check it.

Hi Mark,
I checked your script once again and I found a couple of things that looks like errors in the code.

Var 1758, Name ENG_L_SOL, Link USB_RELAYS, Output 11 Device 1 // Left engine solenoid switch

Var 1759, Name ENG_R_SOL, Link USB_RELAYS, Output 11 Device 2 // RIGHT engine solenoid switch

Looking at the rest of the script Device 1 and 2 seems to be USB-Servo cards and I checked OC's manual for the USB-relaycard and the manual tells that Output 1-7 is relays. Maybe you mixed up Output and Device ID?
Also I think you should add a "," between Device and Output.

Anders

I just rushed in from the sim to post andt say I've resolved it and you post the same things I just found.  I  guess with trying all the different options and changing the script errors happen!!

All is good now and thanks again for your patience.

Works really well with prosim.

I owe you a beer : )

Sounds great Mark! I'm glad it's solved!

Enjoy the switches now. :)
