Title: Meshes
Post by: Bob Reed on September 20, 2011, 04:06:27 PM
I need a run down on the meshes for FS9. Anyone have a basic run down for me? If I purchase them what is it I want? I have a 38m from FSGenisis and I am looking to finish off the US. Do I want to stay with the 38m or get the larger ones that are like 306m. The reason I am confused is because there are different tags on them. For instance the 38m one I have is 38m NED/CDED and the 306m is STRM confused.... And it has been way too long away from all this. I feel like a noob....

My logic says that 38m mesh is more lifelike than 306m mesh - the meter'age is the sampling distance between parallel lines that make up the mesh squares. thus 38metre mesh has more samples than 306metre mesh. I beleive the normal best is 19metre for fs9 with some US areas avail at 9.6metres but the results seem to be 'questionably' better than the 19m but the LOD has to be raised to get the improvements with any consequent hit on frame rates -
.Hope this is all correct since I came out of fs9 years ago
