Title: X-Plane 10 goes 64 bit
Post by: Kennair on November 16, 2012, 03:05:17 PM
X-plane 10 has begun development on a 64 bit version, read the FAQ here (http://www.x-plane.com/?article=x-plane-64-bit-faq).  No more out of memory errors and good for higher end systems.  I look forward to testing this on my new system.

This is great news.   Hopefully the x737 plugin is 64 bit compatible.   Will be back in business for testing hopefully in a couple weeks since my sim is going through a total refit right now.

XP10.20Beta2, and it works beautifully. Just did two flights with 64 bit. The texture detail and volume of objects is much better due to the unlimited availability of RAM and framerates very good. There is an updated GoFlight plugin, and I am testing the first 64 bit version of XPUIPC. EPIC plugin in the works as well. No, 32 bit plugins will NOT work, but the new version  of XPlane comes with BOTH 32 AND 64 bit exe's. So far fantastic!

Thanks James, I've just updated to the latest 64bit beta myself and already noticed the ability to up the render options with a much smoother result.  Having both the 32bit and 64 bit applications available is a great option too particularly during this initial transition stage.
