I know several of my contacts have already made donations in response to my email that I sent out yesterday.  However at least a couple of them did not follow the "honoree" instructions.  I have their names and in one case a copy of the actual transaction receipt....so we can follow-up on that with ACH to be sure we get the credit.

On that subject we need to see if ACH can come up with a pre-filled-in donation form to be sure that we capture credit for all donations made.  I will contact Taylor on that.

PM me if anyone wants to plagerize my email explaining the event and requesting consideration of a donation.  I sent it out to about 50 of my friends, associates and family.  It is a very easy way to solicit donations.

Send me a copy too Fred,  I want to send a few to my contacts.

Funniest thing happened. Was telling a co-worker about the event and he pulls out a wad of $2 bills and hands me $10

(He is a bit weird that way.)

So I donated another $10 in his name.

That's the kind of response the USA/Canada team needs to aspire to.  We have a great curiosity springboard to raise some serious cash I believe....we need to leverage it to the fullest!

For example....This morning I was attending an aviation topics course at William and Mary College here in Williamsburg.  I printed out a bunch of the news media briefs to take with me and asked the lecturer if I could make a pitch during class.  As expected there was a high level of curiosity and all my flyers were grabed up.

We should not lose sight of the fact that we are doing this to raise money for ACH as the primary objective.  Secondary is having a great time doing the flying and renewing acquaintances.  But the latter is a privilege that requires some work on each of our parts to get the word out at every opportunity.

We have a media event scheduled at Sam's from 2-4 on Saturday afternoon.   All the local TV and print media have been invited, so we are hoping for a good response on that front.

In the meantime let's spread the word to family, friends, associates, and people that you run into during the course of the day.  Be prepared with copies of the media brief to hand out.  There is no reason why we cannot rake in some serious bucks.

Attached is a copy of the News Media Brief as a convenience.

I agree with you 100% Fred, For me the difficulty is having people understand the whole concept.  They are ready to hand over money, it is just that they want to better understand what it is for.  In General terms I simplify the pitch "Would you like to donate money to a Children's hospital to support my fundraising efforts" Generally people a very quick to hand you 5 or 10 bucks. When I have to get into the reality of the description things become more convoluted.  In any case everyone remember that above is the total form all 5 teams in Auz.

See you all in a couple days.  Tomorrow is a travel day for me to Toronto, and then I depart Saturday Morning.

Go Figure, It is supposed to start snowing here tonight and tomorrow.  The good news is Bob informs me it was 90 Degrees there today..  Awesome!

Well not a 100% Comparison. The Auzies have been doing this for 10 years or more.. They have a head start on us, but that is what I would like to be able to collect at some point.
