Hello all,
I'm working on a new product for the parking brake lever on the throttle Quadrant.

Features:
- Automatic release when pushing on brakepedals.

- Realistic method for setting the parking brake. You need to press the brakes to be able to pull the handle all the way.

- To set the parking brake you also need keep your hand on the lever until you release the brakes.

- When set, you can't push the handle down. You need to release the pressure on the brake pedals.

It will work by electronics (solenoid) OR a mechanical linkage to the pedals. The second version will be later on.

The main design is finished and I'm manufacturing the first prototype at the moment.

I need you input, what kind of connector do your OEM parking brake rod have?

Was your rod cut when you purchased the TQ?

Share your pictures, thanks [emoji4]

OEM TQ has a small bellcrank at the bottom, this connects to the linkage with a rod end.  This linkage is usually cut or stays with the aircraft depending on how much of a rush the dismantler is in  :)

Below is a layout of the full linkage

Hello Mick,
Seems like there are some methods out there when dismantling the TQ. Many are cut as I can see. Do you know how the rod connects to the bellcrank? Any dimensions of the connector?

The rod will connect to a arm in my construction, just thinking about to design the connection so it will fit those TQs that still have the connector.

I suppose it's something like attached picture?

Yes, but with a male thread.  It just has a 3/16" through bolt holding it on.  I can measure and take pics tomorrow

Awesome! Thank you very much mick

Hi, Anders,

Sign me up when you have them finished!

Hey Kev,
Thanks! I'll post video and updates in this thread once available.

I have a working prototype now, waiting for some hardware before sending it out to a friend that has a OEM TQ for integration.

Prototype is more or less finished. I'm waiting for threaded inserts, then I will be able to assemble the unit and send it for testing.

Design worked as planned. I plan to use some kind of friction material on the lever to introduce some inertia.

Nicely done!  I'd be up for one of these but not sure it'll fit in my RevSim TQ.  Will have to get some dimensions.

Thanks Trev! 😊

Misty, that would be interesting to know if it would fit.

Outstanding work, Anders!  When you make them, put me down for one, please.

I just bought the N1/SPD and autobrake switches from you.  Excited for their arrival!

Cheers!

I'm also working on making the unit even smaller by realigning the solenoid and optimizing parts.

I think I'll be able to cut 30mm on the height and maybe a little on the width.

Always tight on space in simulators [emoji23]

I just recieved mine!

Excellent quality!
This thing is really sturdy and is also very easy to mount due to predrilled holes/lines in the module.

I made a small video of this item that is used in my OEM throttle quadrant.

Support ticket created with prosim to implement support for the module.

I have also sent V2 to another simmer here in Sweden to be interfaced with prosim737.

Sweet. I imagine I could adapt it for my 767?

I'm not familiar with the 767 TQ but if it has a rod connecting the lever, it should work.

Can you measure the total travel between on and off position?

I have added 2 more holes on the leverarm so it will work with many different TQs.

Measure and let me know.

Hi Ander,

I do not have a real 767 TQ, it's a purpose built simulated one for an FTD, and has no parking brake handle...yet.

I opened up the pedestal had had a look, there is lots of room for me to fabricate a mount.
The 767 parking brake is a handle on a rod that pulls up directly vertically so I'm thinking it would work fine.
No idea the distance it pulls up. I'll have to look into that.
