Not too much to report on my B727.  Have been cleaning-up and rearranging my home office, installing shelving units for proper storage of parts, tools, electronics, etc.

Yesterday, I wrote a sketch/code and loaded to an Arduino Mega for my trim switch/wheels via an L298N module.  Am pleased that it works perfectly and I'm very encouraged, even if it's just to test the feasibility.

Am thinking now that I need a different robot-type motor; the one I have (IG42@340RPM) has me concerned that this won't be fast enough to accurately drive the OEM sprocket/chain drive.  My current motor has an attached 8mm shafted sprocket for the chain and the OEM sprocket is much larger. So now, my thought is to obtain a faster motor.  Am trying to keep in the 24-28VDC range, if possible.

Any recommendations for a different type of DC motor?  I've looked online and nothing is jumping out at me...keeping in mind that size matters here.  Ahem!

Thanks,

Antny

Got a new "toy" coming for the simulator, should be here tomorrow...fingers crossed! We're getting a snow storm right now; otherwise, it'd be here today 8).

Should help with some minor issues...more info later....

Wiring, wiring and more wiring.  Have a few annunciators left to do and the MIP gauges and then the first major panel is completely interfaced.  Will post pics tomorrow once it is finished...Also have the video done for the unboxing of the CFY throttle.  Hopefully will have that uploaded next week.

Hey Bernard...  Thanks for sharing these photos.  Nothing like the real thing!

welcome  i also have the radar controller grip

Long time watcher, with an odd post from time to time. This week is a big one..after many months of test flying my FWD Overhead (homemade) in my temporary sim setup, I finally have it hanging in my FDS shell. There's a bit of work left extending certain wires and running power/ethernet and various other runs. I also want to get my grab handles installed before I move in the MIP. Jack's advice of getting the FWD OH in place before moving in the MIP was on the money. It would have otherwise been a nightmare I'm sure.  003.jpg

Thank you.. ;)

Nothing really new here ...Fine tuning Breaker panels lighting....

Ed...   Congratulations on getting your Overhead Panels installed.  They look great!

Jack...   Thanks for posting that FO Circuit Breaker Panel photo.  Having those CB Panels must add significantly to the cockpit Sim immersion.

Hey Guys,

Absolutely love the pics! So nice that you posted them, please keep'em coming!

-Mike, did you put a back wall section in your sim yet? If you're thinking about CB panels, definitely go with the FDS kit version like Jack is using. Their weight is like nothing compared to the real panels. I got the OEM versions and they're giant boulders that need a lot of structure to support them....

Kind Regards,

John

Hi John,

Yes...  I am using some FDS parts for the AFT CB Panels.  Although I am doing a custom support structure that will work with the Motion Platform.

I hope to have this part of the project completed in a few weeks...

Weekend didn't go as planned, youngest got bit by our dog early in the am by pulling on his hair to get on the bed.  once that was all taken care of an we got situated back at home finished up wiring the switches and annunciators on the MIP.  Just have the backlighting and gauges to do.  Also, thanks to a good find from a friend, fitted a couple CCTV boxes that are fused with a 5V and a 12v power supply.  Will drive all my interface cards, PNP modules that require power, backlighting and any other low voltage need.  12v with 50amps, and 5v with 60amps.  Each has 18 fused outputs.

Do any of you military types have a snapshot of loadmasters sitting on the end of the ramp casting for migrating waterfowl?

I bought a WinWing collective.  Getting ready for DCS Apache

This weekend I'll be re-installing the overhead, complete with brand new Beechcraft OEM electrical gauges.

Since I never had the forethought to plan for the future, the new gauges are deeper than I had wanted, making the overhead re-install somewhat of a puzzle. (Queue the Ripple effect)

This weekend I'll be carving out some wood where wood isn't supposed to be, installing the overhead and running some power-up tests.

Maybe even a flight or two if I'm lucky.

Finished up servo gauges on MIP today and just have some backlighting to do later.  Moved on to the pedestal...fun stuff!

Good News! My new toy came, but where do I put it?

Funny, how all the accessory items that go into sim building...ie. workbench, power tools, electronic/soldiering workbench, counters/cabinets for 3D printers, CNC, and the latest...

A K40 Laser Cutter/Engraver! Yep, going too play with one of these and see what I can destroy, uh...I mean make for my simulator...LOL!

Good thing I still have two 4" dryer duct size holes in my garage wall for the desktop paint booth, as they will be shared with the K40.

And here I thought Lego was taking over my sim building life...well, at least not for now

John

PS Hey Everyone, it's the holidays, but don't let it take all your time away, please keep building and posting about your sim. And, it's okay too say Baa-Hum-Bug about Christmas and New Years sometimes, as long as it provides you with more time for your hobby!

Remember! Do not stare at beam with remaining eye!

Finally re-installed the reworked overhead with the new Beechcraft electrical gauges. Pretty sweet to see bus loads now as various systems are cycled.

In doing so, the old Beech fuel gauges are retired now, so if anyone needs some nice Beech fuel gauges, let me know.

There's nothing planned for the near future so I may fly it for awhile. :-) (Except getting a new NVidia 3090 card)

Bought a G1000 for the GA stuff.  Got tired of messing with all the other systems (FI, Air Manager, etc....)

SO SAD to announce This:

AFTER years plus of Flight Sims , I am posting this with a heavy heart

I love PC siming and everything that comes with it... but I am officially done in #2022! This is taking up too much of my time. I'm struggling to keep up with the everyday chores of cooking, cleaning and maintaining my home, so something has to give. I have decided to get rid of all my gear.

Below is a list of what's available. Serious inquiries only, and please don't insult me with low offers.

Thanks for reading and understanding...

1. Vacuum cleaner
2. Dustpan and broom
3. Mop and bucket
4. Lawn Mower
5. Leaf blower
6. Laundry detergent
7. Iron
Anything helps for more sim stuff

HAPPY NEW YEAR SIMMERS

FredK

Bernard...

Fully understood and I say go for it.

Except I would recommend keeping the laundry detergent what with the close quarters in the cockpit environment.

Happy New Year to all!
