Hey Guys,

Please post Here if you are Attending ot not attending Worldflight 2016.  If you are attending, Please confirm your availability, not your flights. Kyle and I need to know when you can be assigned flights, as we are short on pilots, and need to get this wrapped up!  Only 45 Days Left to the MAIN EVENT.

If your not sure yet, and need convincing...  WOW.. Just have a look at our pictures from previous years!!!

I will be driving down from Virginia this year.

My plan is to arrive at Sam's by 11:00 am on Sunday and will stay around through the end of the week.

My schedule is very flexible.....however assume that I am NOT available on Tuesday morning, all day Wednesday, and Thursday morning as I have other plans for those times.  Those unavailable times (except Wednesday) can be tweaked if necessary.  I want to get some golfing in when I'm down there.

Looking forward to it!

Hello everyone,

I am Vincent from Nashville. I look forward to be there between 5th morning and 7th night, I plan to head back on 8th so could stretch in for a red-eye :) on 7th pm/8th am.

I will re-post if I can change my schedule.

This is the first time I will be participating here, I have flown WF flights earlier from my home computer Sim. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Vincent

You are welcome Vincent,

Glad to have you with us in November.

Cheers!

I am trying to work out the days now but it looks like I might be able to make it the end of the week. Possibly Friday and Saturday 11th and 12th.
My anniversary always falls on that week so it gets a little tricky. I'm sure you understand.

Trevor Hale

Thanks, we will put that in the system for you now. But please see if you can narrow that down. I understand it can be difficult with your anniversary but it is hard to change the schedule once it is done. Not just about moving one person lol.

I am glad your going to make it this year though. Looking forward to seeing you again.

Hi All,

It would be helpful if everyone could give the range of flights that they will be available for. Eg. 1614 to 1625.
Alternatively an arrival time and departure time from the facility would work.

Otherwise if all you say is 'I'll be there on the 9th', you may get a flight leaving at 2am EST.   :P

Just to make a suggestion....

In the spirit of this event we should strive to achieve a balanced schedule for each pilot with regards to daytime vs. red eye assignments while still achieving respectable coverage of the red eye flights.

In that regard why not make it mandatory for each pilot to cover at least one red eye flight for each 2 days or less that they participate.  For example, if you are there for 2 days or less you need to cover at least 1 red eye flight,  if you are there 4 days or less you need to cover 2 red eyes, if you are there for the full week you need to cover 3, etc.

That will make the scheduling process a bit easier I think.

I define a red eye flight as a segment that occurs fully or partially between 12:00 midnight - 7:00 am.

Obviously if there are many of us who would prefer to fly through the night this is not an issue, but I do not think that is the case basis previous years scheduling coverage.  How do we get that coverage in a fair way?

So I would suggest that we make it mandatory that each of us specifically define our red eye availability as well.

I fully appreciate that there is no easy way to sort this out....but making it into a democratic process will only exacerbate the process.  Perhaps it is best to just publish a schedule taking the above guidelines into account, then let individuals challenge such if they really feel they have not been given a fair shake vs. the others.

Great idea, but we kinda have a different solution this year. As with anything there are some people with health issues that can't do those kinds of flights. Also some people are working/school that can't. So why we are doing it taking those people and giving them a couple generic flights.  Everyone else goes into a computer program that based on their seniority the program will assign their flights. (Like a real flight department would) those that will get assigned the late night flights clearly will get more flight time then those who can't. But it is a trade off.

In the past 3 years working with everyone's schedules it takes me An average of 30 hours to get the schedule sorted.

We are trying to streamline this process this year.

The flight list is posted at Workdflightusa.com. If you can all put the range of flightnymbers on this list as Kyle suggested that will help us all out.

You guys all Rock! This year is going to be a blast

Your #1 on the seniority list. You can have whatever ones you want. Do you just want 1 of those or all 4? Or give me an order of preference.

Hello Kyle,

I believe Trev passed on my plans, but here they are again:
Nov. 5 thru Nov. 7 early afternoon.  Also, Nov. 10 late evening thru Nov. 12.  Since I'll be flying in, I am planning to spend no more than 2 nights hotel stay in either one of those blocks.  I can do red-eye flights.  Again, please keep in mind I am a newbie!

Thank you!

Hello Trevor & Kyle,

I am brand new to this website and WorldFlight event. I would like to participate but I'm not sure if I should just be a Co-Pilot or observer. My experience is very limited and I don't want to slow things down or get in the way of the expert pilots.

I will be in Sarasota from Nov. 6th thru Nov. 8th. I prefer a flight on Nov. 6th but (If needed) I would be available on the 7th and 8th. I am available anytime mornings, afternoons, and early evenings on any of those dates. I apologize for not being available for any red eye flights.

I would also like to thank Sam for introducing me to this event.

Thank you,
John

Hi everyone.

After arranging and re arranging my schedule, I have been able to take the whole week, so given that this would be my first time there, and though I have a considerable amount of hours in my B737-800 Sim ( no motion ), plus an  IFR rating,  I am ready to bite the bullet and "ride red". I am not sure if it is too late to bid for a flight, but like I say, one has "to fly low " before you can "climb high". So I will adapt to whatever is available.
I look forward to meeting you all.

Joaquin.
