Post by: Trevor Hale on April 03, 2022, 04:55:02 AM
Morning Everyone!

I Never thought I would be Posting this message, and to be honest I am so upset right now, that I probably shouldn't even be typing it to you all right now, but we have a family that really needs our help.

In the early hours this morning, my Brother, my Mentor, and honestly my Best friend passed away.

Bob and I met 25 Years ago, and have been best friends ever since.  I am so shocked that he is Gone.  For the Privacy of the Family I won't go into any details, but I need to get this out there.

RayS, Has setup a gofundme page to Help Bob's wife Lori, who really could use a financial boost right now.  Forget this site, and forget anything I have ever asked of you guys.  Please send what you can to help them out.

There is a missing part of My Heart right now, and I really am at a loss for words.  My best friend will always be remembered.  I Loved him so much.  Without Bob, this site would never have existed.

To say this is a shock is an understatement.

A fine fellow, my flight sim friend, and a significant dimension of Cockpitbuilders has been lost.

My sincere condolences go to Lori.

i don't have words....

Bob was a great guy and such a huge part of this community.  I got to meet him in person only once at an FDS open house in Canada and at Maurice's house for an evening of simming.   I spoke to him many times including when he was working on his last iteration of a 737NG. This is a truly great loss for all and sad to hear this news.

Thoughts and Prayers for him and his family and deepest condolences.

Scott

Hello to our sim building community, I'm deeply saddened by the sad news of the passing of my friend Bob Reed, he was my mentor and the person I considered family, someone I considered a pillar to lean on whenever I had questions or I needed support, we met back in 2012 at the FDS open house in Canada and since then we became more than friends, he lived and worked with me for over 4 months and I'm glad my family and I had the chance to really get to know him so close, Bob will be miss and remembered for what he was, fly high my friend; till we meet again.

What a shock...   I was recently talking with Bob in a PM about his Sim Project.  I was trying to help him with his plans for a projection system.  He seemed really excited about the direction his project was going.  It's hard to believe that he is gone.

I remember meeting Bob at Sam's during a WF event years ago.  I know he will be missed in our Sim Community.  Our condolences go to his family.

Trevor...   So sorry for the loss of your best friend.

Bob and I have been video-chatting since January. We've been working on his latest project; to resurrect his Beechcraft simulator.

Bob was a dear friend. I love him as a brother. We've known eachother since 1997 and we first met in 2013 at Worldflight at Sam's place. Best time of my life.

We used Facebook video chat to work each night on programming, sharing jokes or just laughing and having fun. Sadly now, the channel is forever silent.

We have a GoFundMe campaign to help out Bob's wife Lori in these difficult times. If you are so inclined please make a donation, however small or large. (I only guessed at the end goal for the campaign... I hope we blow the goal out of the water.)

Bob was a founding member of Cockpitbuilders and I still remember him showing me the server in his basement.

Bob's gofundme:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/bob-reed-family-fund (https://www.gofundme.com/f/bob-reed-family-fund)

100% of all proceeds will go to the Reed family.

Thank you to everyone who donated so far. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated.

Condolences and prayers for Bob's family and all of you who knew and mourn his passing.

My wife recently lost two of her brothers within a month of each other.  It brings home how important family and friends are.

Trevor, a special nod to you for your loss and also just a thanks for this site existing.

Be well.

Steve

Thank you All for your Kind Wishes.

For those of you In Canada that wish to donate, gofundme seems to be listed as fraudulent with my credit card, and I have forwarded my Donation to Ray Directly through Paypal.  If any of you wish to do this, please let me or Ray know and we will get you the Paypal address.

I Spoke with Bob's wife on the phone yesterday, and they all are doing well despite still being in shock.  Bob's Funeral is supposed to take place Wednesday, and as much as I would like to go to support the family, I am not that good at Funerals, and would personally like to remember Bob they way I last saw him.

I am thankful for all the amazing people I have met over the years, and love this community more than any of you will ever know.

This news is indeed a shock, I worked out I had known Bob for twenty years and we had plenty of good talks, he helped me with PC stuff many times, he was a very talented builder. So long pal, you now have different wings for the flight we will all take one day!

Trevor,

Thanks for the link to Bob's Memorial Service -- it was a beautiful service.  The unmistakable and prominent testimony to Bob in the Service was that he was a true believer in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Bob's witness to this was his outreach in his music and his ministry as a skilled guitarist and singer in a gospel group.  It was so good to be reminded in the Service that this life is temporal, and that none of us know the time of our death.  That was not a worry to Bob, because Bob had given his life over to God's promise of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.   Bob's faith was not a worldly faith, for Bob knew where he was going when he would depart this world.  Bob's hope was a heavenly hope, to be with Jesus for all eternity.  Now... More than resting in peace, Bob is in heaven with his Savior.

Thank you Bob for your witness to God's truth as demonstrated by your faith in Jesus Christ.  The last song in the Service was quite appropriate given Bob's strong interest in building and flying Sims...  The song was, "I'll Fly Away".

Blessings Bob...  We are going to miss you.

Mike

I want to thank everyone for their kind and generous donations for Bob Reed's family.

Together we raised over $3000 for Lori Reed. Lori and I chatted tonight and I handed over the keys to the funds tonight and she is forever grateful.

As am I, to this globe-spanning yet tight-knit community.

Thank you to everyone who donated. I didn't publish who donated or how much. This wasn't a contest so I didn't treat it as such.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all of your kindness and generosity for our beloved friend Bob Reed.

Ray,

You said it best.  I would also like to thank you for setting that up.  I know for a fact that money is going to help take some of the stresses away.

You guys are all amazing.

Thank you!

May Bob rest in peace, and his family find solace in knowing that the impact he made while on this earth will be well-remembered.
I for one am better for having met him through Cockpitbuilders and WorldFlight.
