Title: Cockpit Voice recorder
Post by: jackpilot on October 22, 2010, 12:36:58 PM
Many of these on Ebay.
I waited for a real nice one and got it for...$9.95! (no other bid)
It was really heartbraking to start cuting wires because this unit, refurbished  in 2004, was  "Serviceable".
See how clean the casing is.
I rewired the Green Test button so that with 5V and an appropriate resistor the gauge pointer moves in the green zone when tested  (item on the checklist).

Nice Jack, next time I stop at your place you need to show me this "secret" lab of yours   ;)

All these little projects, must be a real "Travaux de mouffette"  over there?  LOL

Nice job. I too hate altering a servicable piece of equipment for the sim, but it's the only way to get it to work.

Agreed Mike, the worst is that I got copy of the original bill ..$1205.00
But at least it will have a new virtual life!
Cheers

That's pretty cool Jack.   I will have to do this to mine.  What resistor value did you go with?

Thanks,
Scott

5.5 K Ohms did the trick for that one.
Usually I find it using a HD pot and when the deflection is correct I measure the pot resistor value with a multimeter.

See...  now that's smart!  I never thought of that!  I have the same CVR, just as nice too.  I'll be doing the same when I get home.
