Hi for all,
I am starting a new project and I want to share some pics with you guys ! For visuals I will use three 32" Samsung LED TV connected to matrox TripleHead2Go Digital because my room is limited and can't permit the use of projectors, so for me, this was the best way to go looking for image quality.
For now I will post some pics of the base and the room that I have finished today from a full refurbish on it to receive this project. I have received some hardwares and parts in this last 5 months like TQ Pro line and rudder from Revolution, pedestal from Flyengravity and others...
So will not fly for the next 2 months, i believe :( ! This is the part that I will miss a lot in this break time but it will be for a good reason ::) !
Carlos
Looks like your off to a good start, very professional looking!
Mike Leavy
Hi Mike,
Yes that's true, as you know, we never end with this hobby and sometimes we need to restart it again to upgrade to a good level.
So this weekend I was able to put the base in the room and the 19" rack that will receive all computers, take a look...
Carlos Hermida
Sweet! I like the computer rack!
and your right about restarting. I guess you could say this is my 3rd build/rebuild and i have definately learned alot and incorporated all of it into what i have now..
Mike Leavy
Mike or others,
What knob in the real 737 reduces (dimmer) backlight for the throttle quadrant ?
Here goes some more...
The computer rack has a definite cool factor. Nice pedals too.
The dimmer for the TQ is on the pedestal. It controls the pedestal, throttles, and CDU (key) backlighting, oh and radio frequency brightness.
Mike Leavy
Thanks Mike 's ;) !
First class stuff!
Well done.

hehe... I was talking to Volante the other day about the exact same thing for what i guess is the exact same reason: RevSim TQ :D
I decided to put it on with the pedestal, but that it also control the FMC keys was new to me.
Thanks to you both.
Don't you 737 guys already have that switch on the aft pedestal? It's been like that for 50 years.
Yes we have the switch on the pedestal, but we also have many other dimmers. Knowing witch dimmer to to dim the TQ was the question. My thought was that it could also be put on the backlight dimmer. Well, now I know.
Thank you guys for the TQ dimmer information !
More pics from my project...
I took some time this last two weeks to "google" about the right specs for a new full PC for FSX because doing a new project will be the right time to upgrade for it (was flying FS9 for last 5 years and very happy with it, but...FSX looks more realistic).
So today I was able to buy one NEW EVGA GTX480SC+ from a guy that bought two of then but he decided to sell both to buy two GTX580 for SLI mode as his new computer is not ready yet and he has time to order this monster. As read FSX is no GPU dependent but CPU. Does anybody have any experience of using 2 of this in SLI mode with TH2GO? I will use 3 x 32"LED samsung tv's with TH2GODigital (5040x1050) and maybe SLI could help in something...or not?
FSX Server
Intel i7-9?? (didn't choose yet but i think the best CPU will give me the best results, any suggestion?)
Asus RAMPAGE III Gene
Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2gb) 2000mhz (8-9-8-24) 1.65v
EVGA GTX480SC+
Intel SSD X25-M Mainstream 80GB - for OS
Intel SSD X25-M Mainstream 160GB - for FSX and add ons
Thermaltake TR2 RX 1000W PSU
Thermaltake 760i Water Cooler to use with i7 processor
Windows 7 64bits Ultimate
TH2GODigital (connected to 3 x 32"LED as said 5040x1050)
Your opinions will be very important for me, so feel free for any suggestion or changes in this specs ;)

Cool standby stack!
I'm still buying Core 2 Duo's for FS! :o
I'm eventually getting an Icore Win7 system for non-FS use, but not until after the first of the year.
Carlos,
Gonna be a sweet sim when its done man!! hope to check it out someday!
Mike Leavy
Hi,
Not sure if FS takes advantage of SLI - maybe worth a read on simforums.com to see what has been discussed on there in the hardware section.
Cheers

So, I ordered today the CPU to use with FSX after reading a lot of forums about it and decided that I will go with intel i7-980X...on the way now...expect that worth all money spend on it !!! ;)
Here goes some more...
Yesterday I received from Robert ( Flyengravity) the Performance Line PRO stand and was able to have fun today. I am very very happy with the quality of his products, take a look below.
Hi guys,
Here goes more updates made this weekend as i had a little free time !
...and made some cuts using black leather for landing gear panel.
hello carlos.......
this is going to be some build and i am not only impressed, but jealous into the
bargain. after seeing something like this, i take mike's point and i'm contemplating
a total rebuild next summer.
good luck and hope it all goes to plan.

Hello Ian,
Thank you for your kind words !
I think that the best part when you decide to rebuild a sim these days are about the many options in the market. You know that around 6 or 7 years ago (or more for some builders) when we started our builds it was very dificult to reproduce any acft with good results and limited to 3 or 4 hobby parts supliers. Today things are more easy and you only need to decide how much you could spend in this hobby, choose and assemble all parts like "plug and play" to have great results and feeling.
So if you want my opinion, go ahead captain and have fun as we know that this hobby never ends if we want ;)
Best regards,
Carlos
I would have to disagree with much of that.
For builders such as Eric, Bushman, myself, and others, nothing has changed in the past ten years at all. It is just as difficult to build what we like as it ever was.
Now, if you're building a Boeing or an Airbus pet project, then yes, I'd say things have improved threefold over just a few short years ago. Fortunately, not everyone is building the same thing or this could get dull pretty quick.
If you've seen one 737NG you've pretty much seen all of them. Nothing against anyone building one of these birds mind you, my point was that it has not improved for everyone.

Yes, you are right Mike !
I was talking more precise about the 737NG (my only experience until now) when talking about this last 10 years but A320 have improved too as you said ... ;)
Hello for all,
So more pics to share with you guys ! The structure that will hold MIP, FWD and AFT overhead finished today and will be here at home on saturday... :D
and ready to go home...
The fist pic looks like a mean Bug..ready to jump.
Very nice solution. I did that on my first sim, long ago, with ABS water pipes, was ok but not very strong.(not strong at all actually) Yours seems super solid and square tubing is certainly better than a round section.

Hi Jack,
That was exact my first impression when I saw it ready, grasshopper...but will look better than that when mounted with all hardware ;D
It is very strong and I can use the seat handle without any move of the structure. It is very solid. I used 5 cm x 5 cm square tube to screw the MIP and 5 cm x 3 cm retangular tube for overhead contour and back legs.
Hello for all !
Here goes some updates about FMC's and Lower EICAS using Flyengravity frame for that !
and testing Lower Eicas monitor with Project Magenta software.
Hi guys,
So, after some days since my last sim progress, here goes some more. Free time was a problem this last month, but slowly I am enjoying the results...
and some more...
Super nice
Are n't you eager to line up any runway!!!!
Where did you purchase your lower EICAS display, and is it an exact fit just for that area or does it run under either side of the CDU's?
BSD
FDS sells them. Exact fit for $399 I think

Bought it very cheap on ebay from my Country. Yes it was fitted under both FlyEngravity CDU but just remember that those CDU without the case have around 1cm...perfect fit for this type of set up.
Finally fire up FSX to see visuals of my new setup !
Yep!!! Great. :D
Carlos, hate to tell you but you appear to have a leak in the roof of your simulator room. You can clearly see it in your first picture! ;)
Oh, and another sim I would kill to own!
What no video of the maiden flight?
Kick the tires and light the fires, let's see that thing fly!!
YES. As I am looking to do the same thing, Im wondering if I really need to go with much bigger screens. Ive been thinking about 50" screens but now this thing looks awesome with the 32"s. I thing for certain that 42" is the smallest I'd go with for my project, but I really would love to see a video of this thing moving and shaking.
Hi guys,
I am trying to solve now with Oral some issues with my Rev. TQ after that I will try to make a video showing the visual and the levers from TQ moving in flight folowing the autopilot. I am very happy with the results, looks much better than my old sim ;)
Hi Carlos :)
That is a great project, very tidy made and one can see the amount of pre-planning made. Everything is perfecty cut and organised in advance.
To be honest at some time in the near (or not so near) future I will have to do that too.
I also had (and have) issues with RevSim TQ. Their new card and script has few issues, but hopefully Oral will solve them soon.
So keep on posting pics Carlos,
Thanks for sharing,
Nick
Hi there,
Any news on your project Carlos ?
I am thinking to upgrade my cockpit base, and build something similar for the overhead too. I was just wondering do you have the exact dimensions of this construction ?
Another question woudl be: I see your CDUs are far away from the PC rack. Didn't you have an issue with the USB cable ?
Thanks
Nick

Hi Nick,
As you should known there are too much work setting up things like softwares and that´s what I have spend in this last month making some adjusts with FSX and addons including those correct volume for each sound in pmsounds. Last week I was able to install the BUTTKICKER GAMER 2 below my plataform and I really recommend it !
Yes, pm me and I could send you the dimensions of my plataform but dimensions was calculated to fit in my room and you can increase dimensions if you need.
Talking about USB connections I didn´t have any issue yet with those connections. I have on the back of my MIP a total of 4 TARGUS USB HUB with 7 Ports (powered version) connecting one HUB for each PC with 5m usb 2.0 cable with hardwares connected to the desired PC.
Thanks Carlos
:)
I will pm you soon ;)
Hi for all !
Oh, as I said on my last post, this hobby takes a lot of hours of our life but here are some new shots to compensate all the time dedicated to it ...
Here is the Hobbs meter installed on pedestal to compute the used hours of the sim and ButtKicker below the base ! ::)
...and here some more with the Pro Line TQ in place and working great ! Thanks to Oral from REV...
Now I am finishing some adjusts on my overhead and I will share some pics very soon !
Real nice Carlos!! ;)
well done !
good job on the new sim build carlos !

Hello,
Now my FWD overhead took place and it is working great! The results are attached below, next will be AFT... ;)
and some more views...
Hi,
Here are some shots of Electronic Checklist from Thomas running on my lower DU with a switch configured on my overhead to turn it ON and OFF over lower EICAS display and another ones from my sim now.
Hi for all !
I have signed a special Facebook account (Cockpit NG Simulation) to post all my sim project progress in it and I want to share with all of you guys that uses facebook.
Using this way, all that wants, will be able to follow each update posted of my 737NG sim. Only after you ad it as your friend, you will be able to see all my photo albums posted since I have started this project.
I have choosed that because it is very easy and quick to publish pictures literally "on the fly" or better, when I am flying enjoying some routes.
The idea is to publish some pictures of my flights like aproaching, weather formations, airport traffic spots while taxing or anything else interesting while flying.
So, feel free to "add as friend" using this link below or searching in facebook engine for "Cockpit NG Simulation"

Looking great... by the way, while the process is young... I would highly suggest creating a page through your own FB account (assuming you have one), as it is easier to manage while still logged in as yourself. It also allows greater flexibility (sharing something on your cockpit page etc.), as opposed to a completely new profile. The administrator insights are a great tool to see who is following your page and how much interest it is generating.

Hi,
I just installed this week both Audio Port, Telex 38T Mike and some respective decals.
This is the final look...
Hey Carlos,
Your sim looks incredible! Definitely a top shelf build you got going on...thanks for the updates.
That brings me too a point for all those reading this, posting pics not only shows your work, but gives the rest of us ideas. Take Carlos' labels he had made, I see those and say "AMAZING and I WANT THEM"...lol! So, Carlos where did you procure these?
If you made them, you better start making them too sell, as I would be the first buyer. Also, where did you get the big Boeing Logo Label above the aft overhead?
John

Hi John,
Thanks for the words about my sim and decals.
Yes, all was done by me on MAC and laser printed using special vinil decal paper and that includes the Boeing Logo Label.
I promise you that I will think about selling it maybe like a set of "Decals Kit for Homebuilders" , but first I need to adjust some things.
I will update here how it goes, with some pics , when times permits with a posible price that justify for both sides.
It was not my intention to produce it to sell, but I will think serious about your request...
Hi Carlos,
Sounds great! Just let me or all of us know, as I bet that I will not be the only one interested...
Best Regards,
John
