Title: PC help
Post by: jackpilot on December 30, 2010, 07:11:58 AM
Another one....Grrr
On one PC I had a new video card installed. (Nvidia)

Now I CANNOT move the icons with the mouse,  worse I CANT transfer a file from one to another or to the desktop except by copy and paste.
Automatic alignement on the grid and other ways to rearrange the icons work but the mouse has no effect.
All Icon options ticked off no change.
As if the desktop was locked.

Above my head, ...must be simple ??

???

Did you try right-clicking on the taskbar and see if the desktop is locked

Maurice

Edit - Forget that. You can unlock the taskbar only

One more thing. Are you using a USB mouse or one attached to the mouse port ? Whatever one you are using try switching to a different type and see if that makes a difference

Solved
:P
After an hour long Google search it appears that this is not uncommon !!!!

Caused by adding new hardware or some other unclear reasons.
Cure :playing with the Registry...Alien to me
Finally found something I could understand, tried it and it worked instantly
Copy one of the below, and paste it into your START/RUN/OPEN and run it
regsvr32 ole32.dll
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Remember that one if it happens to you.
