Title: Sporty's Chronos
Post by: jackpilot on August 05, 2011, 07:58:56 AM
The bezels were kindly made by Scott
The IFR timers are sold by Sporty's $26.
2 timers up and down with alarm
am,pm/24H/Zulu
Backlit.

I painted them Gray, they are sold flat black.
Not sure which is the best of the two?

Just sharing,

Lovely clock Jack, I don't think the pilot's DU looks very realistic tho....

Only joking...  ;)

Joe.

Glad you like it Scott, U did a super job with the bezels.
These clocks are more inline with the NG than the analogs. (2¢)
I countersunk the holes for flush Phillips flat heads, looks neat.
You can see on pic one the not so old model and the new one
The new has white backlit buttons and the display backlighting stays lit (push on push off).
I was too slow ordering #2 and got the new one .
Both look good. :P
Thanks again.
PS to paint the bezels I used Testor Gunship grey (hobby shop)
Very very close to FDS Mip.

Maurice, send me a PM with your address and I will send you a set this week.  As Jack said, we anticipated some would want a set and I made one extra set already that has your name on it.  If others want a set PM me and I will get to cutting some more.  I need to order some more 8th inch plastic though first.

Jack..side note..did you drill the holes in the same spot as the FDS holes that were there for their original bezel?   If so I may just add those holes to the cad file and precut them next time on the CNC.

Hi Scott,
Yes I used the FDS holes .
Beware:there is a screw in the way if you want the bezel centered.
Just unscrew it and screw it back from behind the MIP.
Touch up the tip .
In other words , to place the holes properly remove that screw first
Use the nose steering panel to check horizontal centering.

The thickness is fine and in line with the stand-by bezels.
A tad thicker would look good too.
I used 1½" 6 flat head phillips.

PS glad you like it Mau, it even looks better than the pic shows,
