Title: Back to serious building
Post by: jackpilot on December 05, 2011, 01:36:21 PM
Had to slow down on the Sim for a while but its now time for "real business" to pick up!!

Finally the shell parts got out of the box and ..tada!

First pic:  Started at 2PM this afternoon
Pic #2:   5 PM all done but the roof panels.

The FDS shell is worth every penny, incredibly easy to assemble.
More pics will follow.

Happy camper.

I guess my weakness is that I love all aircraft . . big or small!  . . . but that  only applies to aircraft!   ;D

Looks great Jack! I always liked that shell.

Hope to do some serious building as well now that the nice wx is here in TX.  And i got the go ahead to move the sim from the garage into the media room/man cave so i need most of the dirty work done by summer when the move will take place!

Nice move Mike! I was considering moving from the sim room to the garage, but changed my mind after our conversation. It's just TOO hot in the summer!

Big plus, it comes in sections that can go in or out any door or even window,
The alu is very rigid and all is very well engineered.
Compared with your hot South, seems sometimes that Canadian weather can also be considered a plus (well...)

They are Webers.
L1011.
They were not exactly like that when I got them
The first one came from a yard the second came from FDS.

The nice thing about using that shell is that it makes a nice big electrical ground plane to help out when wiring stuff up.   No need to run gnd wires everywhere, just screw it the shell!  I did and it worked great!

Great job Jack,

I am waiting for my shell soon from FDS too. So I am also ready to unplug my sim till the pieces come together. I beleive that the shell (and the seats) are a must if one wants to go to the next level.

Keep on building and please post many pics for us to get jealus.

Nick
