Title: Hi from Mildura, VIC, Australia
Post by: xxilim on October 18, 2009, 02:49:40 AM
Hello everyone.

I've been lurking around the community for at least 12 months now.

Haven't built anything yet, just figuring out what I'm about to get myself in to :P

Currently drafting for a metal works company so you'll see drawings from me before you'll see anything being built!

Just started my career in aviation about 2 years ago and I'm in an awesome bonanza a36 at the moment and loving it :)

RIGHT now I'm sketching up a TQ in AutoCAD and Inventor, really hard to find solid dimensions for this thing tho :(
If anyone knows of some decent details on the TQ I'd be happy to hear from you.

Wish me luck!

Hi and welcome to the site.

There are dimensions out there for the quadrant, but I don't think they include every minor measurement. Sometimes you just have to 'wing' it.

Welcome XXilim.. <-- boy your mother must have not liked you..  LOL  Is there a name we can call you by?

Glad you could stop by, and feel free to offer any input you may find along your journey.  I am sure you enjoy flying, and if you are only 2 years into your career, It will only get better from there.

Best of luck to you in your build, and welcome to cockpitbuilders.com

Hey thanks everyone, can call me Craig if it suits you. :)

I'm making some small progress on my TQ drawing.... sort of lol.

I've got a friend who instructs in a 737 sim.
I'm gonna ask if i can tag along and grab some dimensions of the TQ next time he's instructing.

If i do get the chance it won't be for a while i don't think...

I'm sure those commercial sims are identical if not similar. :)

I guess I'm on a bit of a mission to get some comprehensive drawings of the thing!

Wooo!

Gonna head down to the Ansett sim centre in Melbourne about mid November to get my measurements :)

I have 3 days down there so if there's any requests for measurements be sure to tell me!

Mind you it is a 300 series but it'll be good enough for me. However he did mention there was an NG in there somewhere but it belongs to Virgin, hmmmm wonder if they'll let me check it out?! :)
