Hey Jack, don't know wether you are aware of this great little online program. It's called Tims air navigation simulator and is a free online program to familiarise pilots and non pilots alike with navigation aids like the VOR and NDB etc. It is a brilliant little piece of software that can really help with understanding how it all works. It works as soon as the web page loads and has all the intructions on the main page too.

It may be of use for those studying or want to know more about IFR.
