Building or, I should say, assembling that Sim is pure pleasure but a lot, repeat a lot , of work and thinking.
Maybe I'm getting older than I feel ??? but when I see on some other forums guys planning to build everything from scratch, including engraving their own panels, molding knobs, building MCPs and CDUs from parts gathered on Internet, etc..I wonder if they really grasp what's in front of them...A full cockpit is a HUGE enterprise
Anyway, I'm having my own fun, and sharing with you Guys is part of it.

Really nice looking Jack . . . as for "do they grasp what is in front of them" . . well if they (that would include me ;D ) did they might not move forward. I sure didn't think back in 2009 when I started building the Lear 45 that I would still be building on the Lear three years later . . and still not finished. No doubt a huge undertaking when you take on an aircraft that is not "commercially supported" by companies like FDS. But . . I have enjoyed just about every minute of it! Only a few "wrench throwing / losing my mind" moments!
Looking forward to seeing more of your progress . . no doubt watching other builds come together inspires me to continue to work on mine. :idiot:

Actually I was more referring to 73 builders who bravely ignore available parts and enjoy building them, embarking on that unbelievable challenge ( More a mix of amazement and doubt from my part and certainly not a critic!)
This is why I mentionned "Assembling" my DSTD . Actually the only module I ever built from scratch was My TQ and it probably drained out all my energy for future building :D
As for you Lear Guys...admiration only , no doubt! :laugh:
Oh I didn't take it as you were being a critic . . just making an observation from the obstacles that Lear builders have seen firsthand if you want to build your own parts instead of buying. It would be very tempting for me if I were building a 73 to simply buy what parts were available vs. building them myself. But I do enjoy seeing what I can fabricate . . wish I knew more about interfacing real instruments . .love the look/feel or real parts!
Agreed on the real parts.
Except for some tricky gauges, a lot of panels can be interfaced. The idea is to gut most inner parts to install new ones more compatible with Sim constraints , but keep all these moving items such as push buttons ,switches, rotaries that make them so special to handle.
Keyboard emulators are good at that.
Not many Lear parts on EBay either! lol

Your not getting old Jack, your keeping yourself young! I agree whole heartedly?..I started down that path and as you know I built a lot of my panels on the CNC before throwing in the towel when I realized at that pace I would be in my 90's (and I'm only 45 now) before I would ever fly the damned thing. Thank goodness for Manufactures like Flightdeck Solutions, CP Flight, Engravity, Revolution Sim Products, Aerosim, Open cockpits, and all the others that support our fine hobby...
Your MIP looks fantastic. Can you post a closer picture of the captains side showing how the sportys clock worked out. I haven't done mine yet but in the plans since you first came up with that idea....

Jack is it just the photo or is the blue film still on the MIP plexi from FDS? Looks really blue to me...

Digital causes some color shifts sometimes . No screens.
This is still project Magenta and you can get that kind of blue (Z Key)
Does not mean I like it that way ..lol . These are just tests. Usually I set it much darker
