Hi guys, just thought I'd share something with you I only discovered today. You may already know about this but i surely didn't. I pulled out my 3 dell 19 4:3 LCD monitors today from behind the sim. They all have had their front bezels removed so that my wooden MIP panels can fit snug up against the screens. That was a perfect solution as it left virtually no gap between the screen and the wooden mip and looked great. Watchout!! I found when I removed the screen the image outline of where my mip had overlayed the screen had been burned into the screen! So when you look at the screen on its own you can see where the mip had been up against the monitor. Not sure it has trapped the heat and actually scored the screen or wether the pixels in that area will eventually come good again over time if used uncovered. The monitor has being displaying the same intruments in the exact same position for such along time with a black background i think that may also be the problem. Similar to a plasma screen left on the same picture forever will leave images burnt into the screen. I guess its not a problem if your not ever going to remove your screens or change your setup, but lets face it, we all tend to change it sooner or later for whatever reason.

It may also be this model of monitor aswell not sure.

Thanks Drew, a sobering lesson.  The fallacy of LCD's not suffering burn in is just that, a fallacy.  I work in the television industry and we have lots of LCD monitors for displaying all our networks.  These all have static images displayed at various points and there is serious burn in.  I understand that the burn in can be eliminated by displaying random images for a time, not sure how long though.  A trap for young players however.

Hi again, as Ken mentioned i have started displaying colourful random images on the affected monitors ans will leave it running nonstop for a few days and se if that has any impact at all. I did read that method online in other forums aswell with some positive results. Fingers crossed.

Very interesting. I'm going to increase my fan count when I finally get to that point. The LED backlit panels may run bit cooler? Not sure...
