Title: New Custom Rudder installation/Video
Post by: XOrionFE on April 01, 2012, 10:27:24 AM
Finally got down to business rebuilding the flight controls so I could fit my real TQ and pedestal in.  This required modifying my yoke assembly and finally became the right time to work on and install the wonderful custom rudder pedal assemblies made by my friend and fellow Cockpitbuilder's member, Tom (aka. Astron).

Don and I worked on the assemblies over the past couple weekends and
finally installed them in the cockpit last night.

A BIG THANK YOU to Tom for making them and Don for helping me put together and install in the pit.

Nice work Scott I like your yoke mechanism idea.  Perfect for those with limited under-floor space.

Ken.

Here are some pics of my weekend work this week.   Hoping to finish these and the center housings this weekend.   These will be painted grey then skinned on top with stainless steel.    I wanted to make sure they could be placed in and removed without taking out yoke columns and so far so good.  As soon as I get these wrapped up I get to put my yoke columns back permanently and can fly again!

Thank you Ken

Well I am fortunate to have a father in law that was in the sheetmetal trades his whole life.  Yesterday we took the family for a visit and I brought along the rudder pedal housings.   He had a nice piece of heavy stainless steel so we cut it to size, put it through his bender and applied to the pedal boxes.     Below is the end result which I am really please with.   Another piece of the puzzle complete!   The stainless is tough stuff and really is nice with your heel resting on it when controlling the rudders.   Smooth as silk and looks the part.
