Before some of you get too much into this 'hobby', please keep in mind the effect it has on your way of thinking.
This summer I plan to start building a home-built kitplane, namely the Zenith Zodiac 650B (http://www.zenithair.com/zodiac/ch650/index.html). I have met with some interested enthusiasts and hope to share costs and ownership with some of them to lighten the physical and financial burden of the project. To give you an example, even LSAs are taxed at the lowest tier for aircraft and that is $5K a year!
And to add even more crazy to the mix, I will not be buying the kit but producing the aircraft from plans and using the materials, CNC and other machines at our company's factory.
So there you have it!
Wow, that is going to be one hell of a project. Good for you. It will be nice to see pictures of that come together here on the site also.
Keep us informed please :)
