Title: What's in that bag, captain?
Post by: vidarf on June 17, 2012, 11:28:16 AM
I got a real SAS flight bag from a friend. So far, the FMC guide and Bill Bulfer's cockpit companion has gotten a new home. But what else is in the flight bags? Thought I should populate the bag as close to reality as possible. Just another "immersion" factor...

Most are issued an IPad now which replaces a lot of it!

normally though:

Charts,
Company handbook
Logbook
Old paperwork
Notepad
Lookup tables
Most important for long haul: newspaper and iPod!!!!

Obviously dependant airline to airline and also the schedule of flight

Jepp binders? What's inside those?

The plotting charts and forms - company specific or something you need to have?

And since I have you "on line": Where are the QRH and similar "oh crap" binders located?

I'm trying to populate my cockpit as close to a real environment, and these small things aren't easy to find out. :)

Thanks for the replies! :)

No problem, ask away..

Jepp binders contain the approach, airport, arrival, departure etc plates..

Plotting charts are just some overwater charts used for HF radio flying say from KEWR to the islands, out of radar contact.  Used to be required but now there not but i have em for reference. Another form is a manual weight and balance form we use incase over the printer is not working. We can fill in info provided over radio.. Never used it yet.. These are company specific.  We even have some company specific jepp plates called dash sevens.. 10-7 for special good to know things for airports.

The QRH and other checklists are held in the throttle quad holder down on the sides.

Oh and the normal laminated checklist is kept on top of the glare..

Jope it helps.
