Title: Greetings from Berlin
Post by: oppilein on October 09, 2012, 12:27:09 AM
Hello,

registered since a couple of weeks but never introduced myself  :o
My name is Thomas with 35 of still in good motion years. I started this January thinking about how to improve my weekend flyings. I went to a store I saw a couple of weeks before some Saitek components and just got it. I tried it out (Yoke, TQ and BIP) and found it quite interesting to use it. After looking up what else could be added I mentioned all the nice parts opencockpits and all the other suppliers offer. Well I decided to order the EFIS+MCP from opencockpits to create a "little" Homecockpit. I found it nice and what happened after that until today can be seen below  :)
All has been done by myself except of course all the Panels and components. Actually I didn´t want a Pedestal 1:1 so that´s why the TCAS is located where it is right now. Next year I planned to change that since I want to replace the old opencockpits CDU with the new one. Also for next year or during this wintertime I want to build the whole Overhead Panel. For the next days/ weeks I´m awaiting the Yoke and the motorized TQ from Revolution.
My system works on the iFly Homecockpit Builders Edition I´m very pleased on so far.

Greeting from Berlin
Thomas

Very nice job Thomas!

I'd say welcome and take your time...  but you seem to be up and running at a full sprint.

Very nice looking pit you have there.

Thank you for the words and yes it was like a running at a full sprint  ;D
I didn´t expect that either since I just had a few problems but not much. I was reading a lot so decided step by step what to order and what works for me as the best. I made a split between a lot of self building parts and a couple of just connected via flat cable (Sismo) to keep it running. Also I tried to make it look as real as possible like on the Placards or the Fire Panel I had to modify so it sits deeper in the Pedestal.
Currently and my last test yesterday was to see how all components work together with just 1 23" outside view and the FPS. I´m happy with it and I need to say it is all running on 1 PC right now. I have another PC on Stby because I want to add the TripleHead2GO on it to move the outside view to 3x23". Will see what the FPS will do and if there is no slow motion I keep that running so far. I guess next year when I change my setup with the lower EICAS I connect the 2nd PC to it. Today Poldragonet should ship the ordered Yoke so I will put a MDF plate under the Simulator to get it screwed up. I will put some carpet on it so it looks nice. Also I´m happy to get my TQ from Revolution hopefully in the beginning of November so I can start flying with the whole setup. And next year the Overhead so I can process the whole cold&dark procedure.

Regards
Thomas

Hi,

just wanted to share my current setup. What has changed...covered the floor with MDF+carpet and the Yoke is installed and configured and the 3 Monitors are on the top but not fixed together yet. I had some trouble with the Bodnar Card because it´s Firmware got lost and still the opencockpits MCP is turning off and on and does not keep connected to the PC. My thinking is the USB Hub because I noticed the electricity only keeps 0,6A so will change that to a 2,5A one. Hope that works. The Pedestal will be connected after I got my TQ.

Regards
Thomas

I know I know. I guess it will happen after I have soldered the Overhead with your FDS-SYS1X High Capacity 128In/256Out Card  :)
