A bit bored in the corporate office this time of year, so a buddy and me are launching from Muskegon Michigan to Las Vegas in a couple hours in the club Mooney.
Looks like IFR from KMKG to KLXN, then depending on weather, VFR night across the Rockies KLXN - CHE - KVGT. Will decide once we land in Nebraska.
Pop up flightaware.com and follow along. Tail number is N9576M.
Coming back Sunday Morning..
This trip should put me a few hours away from my commercial license :). Finally!!

Hmm!! VFR night over the mountains in a single engine plane. Why doesn't this appeal to me in any way, shape or form? ;D

Yes, talk about a bit of crazy. My copilot just got back from the route and has 1500 more hours than I do. Weather is looking worse at KLxN, so plans may change. Looks like I'll have to shoot the VOR approach into there tonight. Leaving in 30 min....
Landed Lexington Nebraska first with 400ft ceilings, almost ready to go missed.
Rockies to packed with snowstorms, so filed IFR to KSLC, just landed there, will depart for Vegas in an hour
Finally back......
28.3 hours
28.3 XC
18.9 actual IMC
16.4 Night
$872 in gas, mooney burned 5.9 gph average
A couple approaches to minimum
12 hours of sleep and a trip to the hofbrauhaus in Vegas
Well worth it!
Very nice line-up of stats.
I do miss flying in the RW...
Now that's my kind of trip! Did them many times in the past just like that but in a Comanche.
Congrats. Great accomplishment.
