I am just starting my 737NG sim project. I am having some difficulty in getting FDS's interfaceIT SYS1 card to be recognized by FSX, using Sim-Avionics as the flight model. Both FSX and Sim-Avionics are running correctly on separate computers and WideFS and are working fine.
Now my question...
Since I don't have any hardware as yet, I am running everything (except newly acquired CDU, which is working fine) as software modules. In that mode, set as a Default 737NG in Sim-Avionics, the sim flies correctly and behaves as it seems it should.
I just received my first FDS SYS1 card and now I am trying to learn its operation. I installed the TekWorxs drivers on the Sim-Avionics computer, and the interfaceIT software recognized the SYS1 card fine. I setup a single momemtary contact switch in switch location 57, and using the Locate Input Mode, the software finds the switch correct at location 57. So far so good...
It is at this point that I am having difficulty. I have tried to assign a simple Landing Gear UP function to the switch using teh ADd Input Action, choosing Update FSUIPC. I selected Flight Simulator from the selection and found Gear Command, which I selected. I also confirmed the FSUIPC Offset as 0bE8 with a Value of 0 for the Gear UP function.
I found an earlier post by Mark Hastings (commenting on the same issue for someone having exactly the same problem) referencing the need to the Flight Controls area of Sim-Avionics' Server in the "Do not Link to Flight Sim", which he stated was important so Sim-Avionics could command the gear functions.
In any case, all this did not work. So... I am at a loss because at this point I have tried various combinations of selections and setting and nothing is recognizing the Gear UP command.
If anyone could provide some assistance it would be greatly appreciated. FDS support staff is out of country until next week and I am hoping to make some progress in getting this to work. By the way, I tried the same as above using a different command - Landing Light ON - and it did not work either. I know I am missing something, but don't have a clue.
Comments on this welcome. Thanks.
Mike
Mike, I know we talked about it but just double checking that you grabbed the proper FSUIPC_IO.ini file for the 737 from the interface files folder renaming to FSUIPC_IO.ini and copying to the Server folder?
Also in the Main Control section in the FSUIPC interface area did you check the boxes to use input and output offsets?
Scott
Hi Scott,
This may be something I missed... I see some reference to it on page 47 of Sim-Avionics' documentation, but it doesn't look like what you are describing. Any idea where the FSUIPC_IO.ini file is located? and where in the Server folder should it go? the root directory? Thanks.
Mike
It should be in an interface folder in sim-a. THere are a couple and you choose the one for your airplane. Rename it to FSUIPC_IO.ini and put in the c:\sim-avionics\server folder
Thanks for the feedback Scott. I found the ini file and renamed it as you stated, and placed in the Server directory. I must be missing something else, as it still does not recognize the Gear UP command. I also deleted the Control function in FSX to see if that would make a difference, but it did not help.
Unfortunately, FDS's documentation on the interfaceIT card is fairly vague with few helpful examples, in addition to the photos in the documentation are of an older version. I'm pulling my hair out on this one...
Mike
Check against this picture of my switch config in interfacit. Also make sure those in/out checkboxes are checked
Scott
In this folder:
C:\Sim-Avionics\Interface_Files
There is a "Read Me" file
Sim-Avionics InterfaceIT.ini :
Defines the InterfaceIT dropdown options in the Sim-Avionics assignment menu. The InterfaceIT package already comes with a definition file but the one in this installer will always contain the latest entries.
Installation:
Sim-Avionics.ini
Copy to
C:\Program Files\TEKWorx Limited\interfaceIT Management Control System\
FSUIPC_IO B737_InterfaceIT.ini
B737 Version
Assigns the Server functions to the correct offsets to match the InterfaceIT definition file.
Installation:
Rename the file
FSUIPC_IO_B737_InterfaceIT.ini
to
FSUIPC_IO.ini
Copy to
C:\Sim-Avionics\Server\
Make sure the check boxes are selected in the Server. Use teh Sim-A Commanded Gear Up and Down offsets from teh Sim-Avionics Chooser in InterfaceIT. Right click on the located switch and assign.

Hello Steve,
How kind of you to take the time to comment on this thread - greatly appreciated!
I will start from scratch and go through the process you described. I am sure it is something truly simple that I am missing. Once I get over this bump in the road, I expect to better understand the interfaceIT system.
I'm hopeful that this will work. Thanks again, and have a safe trip back home.
Mike
