Title: Projection: Pixelwix warping software
Post by: sagrada737 on February 18, 2013, 02:16:01 PM
I have noticed in many of the projection videos posted, that there are "bright bands" between the three projected images.  It was my understanding that these would or could be removed by the warping software.  However, if that is the case, why are these showing up?

I have looked at a warping software from Pixelwix ($300 to $500 range) that seems to be fairly comprehensive in its ability to resolve the common warping problems/issues to get a clean, seamless display.  Here is their link:

Also, here is a nice explanation and brief tutorial on how their Pixelwix Pixlewarp software blends and aligns the projector images to achieve a seamless image across the curved screen.  Of interest are the color and gamma correction features.

I would be interested to hear from folks using warping software solutions, how this compares with other warping applications.

Im kinda burnt out testing...Ill let one of you new cats buy it, install it and perfect it over a few 2 or 3 years and report back...

One thing I can say, is that PixelWix isnt a magic cure, don't get sucked in, all Geometric software is very similar and needs YOUR  time to perfect.

LOL its grumpy old men week  ;D

Ben and Mike
That subject has been debated here , including the bright  bands, reasons and cure.
A lot of comments too on the main softs avail.
A search might help.

Cheers

Mike,

Just like buying a car, there are a number of different warping software products on the market.  Some are better than others. It's not only the software but what kind of support you will get if (or should I say "when") you encounter some problems.

Like cars, the more you pay for the software, the better it is likely to work.  It takes a fair amount of work to get it "right" but then again you are taking 3 flat projection images and making them fit nicely on to a curved screen.  And the projectors overlap at two points and that's where it gets very tricky.

Send me a PM for more info.
