Title: Any Experience with InFocus Projectors
Post by: Andrew 737 on July 03, 2013, 09:20:29 AM
Hi Guys

As the title suggests, does anyone have any experience with or know about the INfocus IN126ST projector?

http://www.projectors.co.uk/pp/Projectors_by_Manufacturer/INFOCUS_Projectors/INFOCUS_IN126ST_PROJECTOR.html (http://www.projectors.co.uk/pp/Projectors_by_Manufacturer/INFOCUS_Projectors/INFOCUS_IN126ST_PROJECTOR.html)

Any feedback greatly appreciated

Looks like good value for money.
Similar specs to other WXGA short throws commonly used
in Sims.

Just a few thoughts for you:

How much do replacement bulbs cost and how long has it been on the market (release date), as well as the warranty/service period? One of the biggest things about any projector(s) is replacement bulbs because they do cost a lot, and you need to know the operational hours based on Full Power versus Econ Modes. Then, there is the shelf life of any model of a projector. You can tell that real easy by just searching for the particular model and looking at current prices versus how often you see used ones. If you see a lot of the model in question for sale used, that says a whole bunch.

The biggest question is how does the company handle warranties and service? Will they just send you a replacement overnight, with them paying all cost, without question. Or, do you have to speak with 10 people from 3 countries and wait a week for an email to "hopefully" get sent to you that has instructions on how to call the same 10 people now in 4 countries to get a return order...assuming they give you one...normally, I'd say I'm just kidding, but I am not. Maybe, that is a little more then the truth, but people do get treatment something like this from some companies.

Finally, I have an older InFocus that I use for my home theater; it is hanging from the living room ceiling, and that thing has lasted for nearly 10 years already on the same bulb. Although, I don't use it very often, it has never had a hiccup...

79.73 pounds according to the above site. That seems very reasonable compared to some of them that cost twice that.

Looks like you are on a winner there, Andrew,

Maybe, I've just reinstalled Orbx UK with all the service packs (on 5 pc's!). Looking like they've improved it a lot. Wales and Scotand really nice too. Downloaded the free Netherlands scenery also, it's a must have when flying in to EHAM regulary.

Catch up over weekend mate.
