Title: DX10 & WidevieW
Post by: Andrew 737 on October 12, 2013, 01:58:22 AM
Hi Guys

Hot off the press:

A friend of mine (who runs a professional 737 Sim for professionals) spent 6+ hours testing DX10 in his WidevieW colimated display setup.

There was a considerable increase in smoothness on the clients in all conditions; Server and Clients were tested using the New DX10 fixer.

Disclaimer - this has NOT been confirmed with any Warping Software in use and as ever YMMV

For you pioneers out there please test and report back - thanks

Can't wait for my out building to be assembled - I have 3 new projectors, 5 i7 SB pc's and a brand new top of the line Haswell PC to test with the DX10 Fixer and of course the WidevieW breakthrough with FS Global real weather - Patience!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Just as a small warning.   If you run FTX Global it is not compatible with DX10.   I believe they are working on a fix but I haven't seen one posted.  With DX10 turned on every place there is a light in FTX Global will have a black square...daytime also.   Looks pretty bad.

Not really new news...I would run DX10 if all my airports(and FTX) were DX10 compatible.
If you don't see any adverse effects with your add-ons, especially at night, stick with it.

Hi Nat

I am pretty sure that FTX Global is fixed (i know this was not your post :)) via the DX10 Fixer.

As far as add-ons are concerned, in the aforementioned simulator they are kept to a minimum as they are not required for 'professional' training.

This is why I posted here; there are a lot of us that are in this hobby for entertainment and thus we need/love our add-ons.

May I ask specifically which Add-Ons you have found cause issues as this will be of great value to me and anyone who is seeking potential benefit from DX10?

Thanks in advance for any reply

Cheers

I am a FSX-WideView-FGRW user too. My gut feeling is: just wait for Prepar3D 2.0 test results and then make up your mind!

Yes indeed - i await prepar3d too

Timing for me is just so - I'm building my house and start on my sim out building in November; may as well wait for Prepar3d v2.0 before I do anything.

But if anyone has Experience with Wideview and DX10 please post - thank you

All

Testing on my single screen setup, looks good so far.  Will test later on the wideview setup and report on any plus/neg issues.

If i don't get any performance increases then i guess its another add-on for sale!  : )

More testing, especially with wideview to come.  Looking for some smoothness improvements not FPS, here's hoping!

Grass problem at EGFF Cardiff.

This is  Orbx Cardiff and dx10 on. Sorts itself out when dx9 selected.
