Just got back from the I/ITSEC simulation conference in Orlando where I worked as an exhibitor with Univisual Technologies, the makers of the Warpalizer blending software.
The size of the conference was huge..the display area was more than 4 football fields in size and there were over 10,000 people registered! The biggies, (Boeing, Lockheed Martin, CAE, Rockwell Collins, Raytheon etc etc) were all there displaying their latest digital technologies. The conference is sponsored by the US Army and it was quite awesome to see what has been developed in the world of technology.
For those who might say that projectors can't display high resolution....they had units there that were capable of 2560 x 1600 res! Of course, if you had $ 12,000 - !5,000 to fork out per projector, they were yours to be had :-))))
And the amount of business between exhibitors that takes place is huge. Needless to say, it was quite the experience.
hello Harry,
I'm glad you had a great time, couldn't make it this year. Olav and Cato were at my place before the event, great guys!! and today Cato is coming over to test and double tweak my system, and I do agree with you, a good set of projector will make a huge difference, in my system the way it is I can see traffic out my windows 20 miles away, plus the immersion effect is unmatched.
Take care talk to you soon.
Hi Sam,
Yes, both those guys are great to work with.
Cato and I have a commercial installation to do in Toronto starting Monday and then he is off back to Norway. I'm learning a lot from them and trying to become more competent with the Warpalizer software. They had a 6 projector/screen visual at the show and you couldn't see anywhere where the projector images joined and blended.
Rockwell Collins had a huge simulator screen display and you could count the number of projectors they had (6) by looking at the screen and seeing the blended areas quite distinctly. Not good for trying to impress.
