In my long term plan I'm starting the long process of researching 737 rudder pedals. I've got a good idea of how to create the pedals and the rudder function but I'm unsure about the toe brakes. I figured it would be more simple to use a hall sensor with my leo bodnar card for the toe brakes rather than potentiometers - it was that or a microswitch but I couldn't think of a way of incorporating a microswitch (although I'm struggling to think of a way to incorporate the hall sensor!).

So two questions:
- Is it worth having toe brakes or is it just too much effort at the moment, could I work towards it in the future?
- Any good ideas on how to incorporate the hall sensor?

I don't know what a hall sensor is, but I think the toe brakes are an essential part of the rudder pedals and you should plan on having them from the outset.

I'm not sure a microswitch is a good idea, as then the brakes would either be full on or full off. I think you need the pot to give you the range.

You should use toe break and really consider hall sensor.

Thanks Sean and Jacob for your advice.

I think the Hall Sensor would be much easier to implement as it is much smaller. I think what I need to do is pop down to Trago (Hardware store) to get the pieces I need and start playing around. Then I'll order the bits and pieces from eBay tomorrow and start fiddling next week!
