Title: FMC Connector
Post by: fordgt40 on August 30, 2014, 12:45:23 PM
I recently purchased a Jay-el FMC keyboard, I believe from a 737 300. I have the repair manual as a .pdf file, however the FMC keyboard connects to the main FMC computer via a 44 pin rectangular connector arranged as 4 lines of 11 pins - photo attached.

I know the 44 pin designations, but this is no use unless I can obtain the matching female 44 pin connector. Does anyone know what the connector type is called, or better still know where to purchase one?

If you remove the shroud over it there will be a part number stamped on it. should help you along.

Or, measure the pitch between the pins, im guessing 2.54mm (0.1"), then get some single row wire to socket connectors with the same pitch, will work fine

Hi Phil

Thanks for the suggestion. I found the part number, but after a few hours on the internet still could not find a supplier. I cannot use a row of single wire connectors as the pin spacing is non standard.

However, I am going to use female wire crimp connectors directly onto the pins - that should solve it. Pleased also to find that the keyboard matrix is all ok as is the backlighting

Thanks and regards

David

I also use female connectors on the back of cannon plugs when I cant find a matching pair.

You bet, just be sure to heat shrink all the way to the bottom of the crimp connector to prevent any shorts.

I had the same problem with many of my 767 modules. If I remember correctly, these are the jumpers I use to connect to individual cannon pins. They work really well... tight fit.
