Title: Checking in!
Post by: fsaviator on January 10, 2016, 11:16:40 AM
Well, we have arrived and are getting settled in Washington.
I am the newest resident of the town of DuPont, WA, so if you are in the area, look me up!

Yesterday I had the greatest surprise I've had in a long time...  my poor 13-yr old daughter probably thinks I'm an idiot now as she was with me.

So, I needed a travel router to use in my hotel until I move into the house next week and the only place that had the one I needed in stock (instant satisfaction) was Fry's in Renton.  Sounded like a good reason to drive up to Renton and get to know the area.  Anyway, I'm busy listening to Lola (my trusty Navi with the sexy Australian accent) and dodging construction when I come around the corner and what do I see????  Six brand new 737 NGs in various levels of paint (one a P-8i, one a United, and one a Ryan Air)!  I had completely forgotten that they are built at the Renton Muni Airport and Fry's is right next to it.  Anyway, I must admit I got pretty excited and I think Cassandra now wants to disown me.

Oh well.  Thought I'd share this with someone that can identify with me.   ;D

I know, right?  I had my hands full getting through some construction on the road that borders the airfield otherwise I would have taken some.  I'm already looking for excuses to go back up with a camera. ;D

I'm taking them all up to Seattle on Saturday to show them around.  I hope I can come up with a reason to go to Fry's but if not, I'll surprise them with Boeing field.

All our stuff gets delivered on Monday and Tuesday so next week should be hectic.  I hope my sim makes it OK.

Hopefully you will have good enough weather to get a good view of Boeing Field!

Were you able to find a place with a big enough spot to put your sim?

I know.  I have an ulterior motive to go up today.  I'm shopping for a used car and have decided it is time to check off "Porsche 996 Carrera 4S" off my bucket list.  Know of one for sale?

I have a room for the sim but I am not sure if the circuit can power it.  Worse comes to worse it is going in the garage.

Reminds me of the first and only time I was in Stuttgart, here I was in a BMW 300 series from Hertz (only car they had with automatic) at a traffic light and there was 5 other cars around me... all Porsche.

Felt like the "short changed guy" in the locker room... but glad to see the Porsche employees are happy to drive what they make!

I am happy to report that I was successful and I am now the newest member of the Porsche Club of America.

Now that the itch is scratched, I can start cleaning out my garage so I can get my sim back together.

Hey Warren,

Whatever you do or go, don't let the Valet park your car! Did you see the news story today of how a Valet took a joy ride in someones Lambo and it caught fire because the stupid Valet driver didn't understand that a Lambo needs high air flow when it is running high revs. He was basically sitting still and over reving causing the engine too shoot flames out the back, which ignited the enginge compartment and rear body sections.

Your Porsche is not a flame shooter, but it is a Valet's dream joyride car!

John

Shouldn't be a problem as I can't afford valet parking after buying the Porsche!

Warren, now I got the courage to tell my wife that this time I will get my 911 Turbo and will keep it too. They are so cheap here in the US compared to Germany. Even with the weak euro you get a MB B series in Germany for the price of MB 350 here in the US.
We should start talking about gas that is being sold in pints over there.
Hockenheim Race track is the ultimate Drivers event for me.

Cheers
Luis
