Title: Help with identifying if these are like the real switches.
Post by: kurt-olsson on August 02, 2016, 05:39:38 AM
I found this on Ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONEYWELL-MICRO-SWITCH-2TL256-2D-TOGGLE-SWITCH-LOCKING-LEVER-PANEL-MOUNT-NEW-/311615115923?hash=item488db55293 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONEYWELL-MICRO-SWITCH-2TL256-2D-TOGGLE-SWITCH-LOCKING-LEVER-PANEL-MOUNT-NEW-/311615115923?hash=item488db55293)

For this price i think i will be buying them but i am not 100% what switch this is, if it is like the electrical bus switches, or the apu or the bleed etc.
Can anyone cofirm if these can be used on the 737 overhead panel and on what position?

Hi Kurt,

These are just ON/OFF Switches, They are not momentary, the APU Needs to be a MOM/ON/OFF Switch. However these should work for your Lights (Not Beacon) and your Fuel Switches.  I Don't think any of the light switches are locking though.

Won't work for the Gen/elec switches Kurt, but will work for the following:

Fuel pumps
Hyd pumps
Eng & APU bleeds
Trim Air
Eng Anti-Ice

Warning:
Those switches require some pulling (down) force to disengage. Your overhead panels and frame have to be strong enough to withstand the stress. Plastic panels without a metal backer will eventually break. Same for the OVH frame which has to be fairly rigid, preferably with dzus.

Well said Jack!

Some of the OEM rotary switches that you have to pull out to turn are incredibly stiff too.  I nearly need to put both feet on the overhead to turn my IRS switches off :)

Hm... That sturdy! :)

I have metal plates from simworld, but in videoa the switches dont look that heavy to pull. Maybe these are tooo stiff???

Never trust a video 100% !
:D
As for this video, it is real hardware, and panels as well as framing are built like tanks and do not budge a tenth of a millimeter. Do not expect that from repros.

True true! Shame that the price for OEM panels has gone up so much last years otherwise i would use it just for the feel as you describe.

The dream would also be to get a real cockpit section!

With a ton of patience, everything shows up at a right price on EBay, May take years though!  ::)
