Hi all,
I'm looking for a set of trim switch guards/mounts for the 737 yokes. I bought the yokes from Open Cockpits which are nicely moulded and quite authenic looking but they don't come with the mounts or switches, any thoughts anyone?

My other suggestion would be to contact Ali at ACE Yokes, and see if he might know of a place to get something like this..

hello joe........
these are made by a guy i know in holland for opencockpits. drop me a line and i'll give you his e-mail address.
rgds ... ian
Thanks Guys, I knew you would have an answer. Although I think our friend at Simparts is a little over the top for price.
Regards
Joe.
I got these from the guy who I think Ian is referring to...
Can't remember how much they were but they certainly did the trick.
Cheers
Mike
You may ask Roberto.
Check www.throttletek.com (http://www.throttletek.com)
Thank you all, I'm sorted now.
I contacted Said in the Netherlands, (on Mr Sissons advice) apparently he makes the Yokes for Open Cockpits and will sell me a Trim Guard complete with switch for â,¬30, That's a price I can live with... :)
Thanks again everyone.

30 Euro.... I just bought a yoke from him. You'll have to dig deep into Ian's site to find his name/email link. Not sure if that is intentional, so PM me if you need his info.
hmmm... I'm looking for 2 yokes. Can anyone be bothered to give me his mail address?
This latest post is conflicting with your other post ( lol)
Do you have a set of real yokes or not?
hello nax.......
the gauy's name is Said and he lives in the netherlands. real nice chap.
his e-mail address is boeing7377ng@hotmail.com.
does the yokes either unfinished, finished or acomplete unit with switches
and wiring.
tell him ian sent you ;D
regards....
ian
he supplied one for my FO yoke. AAA.
it's the way to go... it was easier mounting Said's yoke than it was mounting my real yoke... very good quality.
I see your point Jack :D :D
The real yokes is kinda expensive and will take a lot of work I guess, so I'm looking into all alternatives.
It would be really cool to have the real ones, but if the task to get it working is to big, I will have to look at another solution.
I received a mail from Art over at Northern Flight Sim today after asking if it is possible for a humble norwegian to overcome the task, and his answer was that the task wasn't big.
It was huge!!
If you already have two real yokes use them.
It might be a serious task but the end result (feel and looks) will be light years away from anything built out of repro parts.
Any local machine shop will be able to help you build a solid and rewarding base for your yokes, and after that interfacing will be a breeze!.
If you are looking for yokes (no columns) I think Maurice has two which he will probably sell as he now works with real ones. Check with him.
A length of 1-1/8" Delrin fits the yoke splines perfectly with some tapping from a small hammer.
You can cut it to whatever length you need and the splines will cut their own grooves in the Delrin while it's being tapped in.
It's not at all difficult to mount a real yoke.

Do you have some details on the Delrin? I ended up using a CNC to cut out the shape from MDF. it works, but it will probably wear after a while. Are you saying just cylindrical Delrin, slightly larger than the teeth... then tap it in with a hammer?
Warren
Yep. Cylindrical Delrin 1-1/8". Once you tap this in it will never slip or strip.

See... that's why you're a rocket scientist! I never would have thought of that... I spent hours working a solution that isn't 100%. Thanks. The worst part.... I have a four foot section of 1-1/8 Delrin sitting in my garage that I bought for another project.
So you yse one of these:

without any preparation? Just tap it in?
Yep, if it's the correct diameter.
I wrote that tag line because I used to work on the Minuteman II WS-133A/M LGM-30F ICBM weapons system.
Got some of that stuff lying around. Maybe I can fit it to a steel pipe since I don't have the full meter.
Thanks for the advice!!
You lost me there.

I think we're talking different parts...
NAX, we were talking about mounting the yoke handle, not the down tube. Pound the Delrin into the star-shaped hole of the yoke handle (after removing it from the stock workings).
aha... i was thinking of the cross bar linking the yokes.

Ah, you mean this switch.
