I'm building an 800 model. I have a 8-position rotary switch right now that I was going to use for the cross feed on the OVH fuel panel. But it just occurred to me, maybe that's not the right type to use? Should it be a rotary encoder instead? Any thoughts or input is welcome.
Rotary indexed 90°.
Hard to find
If you are not too fussy about it a 45° will do the job (8 positions)

How about this ?

Thanks a lot guys!! I like that switch you recommended Dave.. My uncle is 737-800 typed, and he said there's no clicking.. so I think I would skip the 45 8-position. the 90 degree, 4 position seems like it would be perfect.
You will have clicks with both. 2 cliks between the 90° extremes.
Dave's switch should be good.

Also 90° no clicks

All good options!
Just for reference, this is what the real one looks like, i listed one for sale here a while back

Not sure if its relevant, but the "clicks" come from a spring and ball bearing which can be removed iirc
