Title: What size monitor ??
Post by: Coco737 on April 05, 2017, 02:29:42 PM
After making the centre panel of the MIP I only have a space of 221mm to fit a monitor in but i need a viewing area of 180mm by 171mm.

Any Ideas?

Mick what is the brand and model number

These are from Apollo displays, Kit number is WVA-KI-48-002, comprising of panel model G121S1-L02 and controller PECO-IV-12RD.  They run for about $400 US each but they are top quality panels, with an ultra-wide viewing angle.
When mounted vertically, most LCD panels wash out the colors and contrast (if you are on a laptop, angle the screen down a little to see this effect.)  As this is changed to the sideways angle when mounted vertically, and being the centre screen, you need a panel designed for a wide vertical viewing angle.

I went through 3 or 4 other models of screen before biting the bullet and getting these ones.

Also note that mounting the screen vertically will mean some of it will protrude below the bottom of the MIP, but this can easily be hidden behind the CDU bay.

The vast majority of builders use a 15" (4X5) which covers also the standby instruments
Easy effective and cheap.

Yes but I have the three standby flight illusion gauges to fit in there but it's cool I've found a solution for around £30. I watched a YouTube video on what you need to make an lcd turns out not very much actually so I'm going to give it a bash. If I hadn't already have the gauges I probably would have done the 15

I use to use a 19" wid screen vertically and flight illusion gauges and it fit well. Lost lots under the mip though but it was hidden by the CDU bay. Pulled it out of the plastics though.

Are these replicas of the DU-7001 or the original CRT type? 8x8 lcd available separately if bezels are a copy of the older CRT frame?
