Title: Flight Sim World.
Post by: Joe Lavery on May 03, 2017, 11:49:57 AM
Just had a news release from Dovetail Games, might be of interest in time.... we shall see.

They've gone for 64 bit and incorporated Orbx Global, so it's a good start at least...

See what you think?

Yes good news, but before I jump ship as some of these sims going 64 bit (RUN AMAZING) but run as a desktop game and not a simulator, they will not work with fsuipc etc. (Project A, D and of course X)

I have high hopes for ORBIX Project P which will be going 64 Bit, and I am hoping its Prepar3d.  Then I will make the leap :)

So Project A (Aerofly) has been announced

Project D (Dovetail) has been announced

As far as I know, Project X (X-Plane) was announced....

There was an interesting quip on that P3D link, calling X-Plane 11 scenery 'Cartoonish'.

What makes it interesting is that personally, I think the same thing of P3D scenery with impossibly vibrant blues and over-saturated earth tones.

If anything, the real-world sky in reality is a bit dull, sometimes muted, unless you are flying in the tropics, where things get a bit more interesting.

There's no way I could re-convert my sim back to P3D as most of it's operation is embedded inside numerous micro-controllers. But if the next release of P3D is compelling enough, I may have to start a new project. :-D

Hi All,

I've been using SE now for quite some time and really like it's stability. I've never seen an OOM so far but most of my flights are under 3 hours. I've got my Skylake cranked up to 4.8 GHZ , so if moving to a 64 bit platform will take some of the pressure off my CPU and move it over to the GPU, that would be fantastic. I probably would be inclined to stay with Dovetail if this was the case.

Yes this is what I have high hopes for.

Prepared allows me to fly my sim with others on a private server. It combined with orbx makes my sim awesome.
