Hi folks
I wonder if anyone can provide the measurements for the windows in cockpit, I have found different drawings, but seems to miss some angles.
Can you help?
hello Geir..........
i worked with these
http://www.737ng.co.uk/737NG_Flightdeck_Dimensions.jpg (http://www.737ng.co.uk/737NG_Flightdeck_Dimensions.jpg)
http://www.737ng.co.uk/windowlayout.jpg (http://www.737ng.co.uk/windowlayout.jpg)
http://www.737ng.co.uk/B737glass.jpg (http://www.737ng.co.uk/B737glass.jpg)
http://www.737ng.co.uk/boeing%20windshield.jpg (http://www.737ng.co.uk/boeing%20windshield.jpg)
what i did was sit down and work an 'average' on angles and sizes. i think if you follow the dimemsions, the angles don't quite fit and vice-versa. so i was 'artistic' with the data. the most important thing is that it looks right. nobody comes in my sim with a tape measure and a protratctor and nobody has bitched yet ;D
have a great day, i'll be in touch later.....
regards ... ian
One new I haven't seen here, but youre right about the most important element. That it looks good.
I'll have a go at the drawing board.
Yep, same here. I built one window frame according to what I found on that site but it jut didn't look correct.
I built another while adjusting some dimensions and angles a slight amount. I was much happier with the second frame.
I think one problem with published dimensions is that you don't know where on the window they are referencing. Are they measuring the glass, the outside of the frame, or somewhere else.
From one view it looks ok but from another not so ok. Guess I have to solve the puzzle "live".
Straight in from front (well not quite quite):

Measurements looks to be ok.
Made in Sketchup.
Drawings look good. In the top photo, the front glass has no breaks on the bottom edge. It's a straight piece of glass and the nose has hard edges that reflects this.
Unless I'm looking at it wrong...
OK.
Can maybe be seen it this pic? The middle section between the center windows shall have a angle. Is that what you mean?

Right. The bottom edge has no compound angles, just straight glass.
NAX, Is there something specific you need regarding the window measurements? Just the glass or what exactly? let me know what you need and the next time i fly ill bring the tape measure..

It was a mather of angles between each window, but one of Ians links had good measurements of how wide, or how many cm there shall be between each side of cockpit, so I think I'm good to go.
I will have no outside details since you enter right into the cockpit going through the door to the SimCave ;), only interior details will be possible to see.
Thanks for all the help everyone.
