Title: The Sim
Post by: Bob Reed on August 17, 2017, 02:06:02 PM
Well after several months of not being where my sim is, I am, as I type this, on my way back home. Work will start on the sim in just a few days as I have several boxes waiting my arrival! I will give the shop a good clean and then start working on my beloved 73. Photos, streams and tantrums to follow!  :P

Well work has started. I have the cockpit a mess! lol Working on installing the new MIP. Reworking the entire MIP stand to accommodate the new panels is a little more fun then I had thought it would be but that just may be because I have missed working on this monster. I will post a pick today. More to come....

I received some of the Korrys I needed for the new MIP today. So guess what I will be dong! lol Wiring to do! I started the redesign of the MIP stand so I can mount the MIP. I need a small piece of plywood and do you think I can find a chunk the size I need? Nope...lol  :D

Robert I have plenty of plywood you can have!

I seem to have a lot of it after cutting out a new screen.  :o

Well worked until the wee hours of  morning on this. Not really I actually flew until the wee hours... I did all the work over the last couple of days. Installed P3Dv4 and massive work on the displays. What a difference! The new MIP is coming along as well. You can't tell it but I raised the MCP about 3 inches to get it to the right hight. Now I have to change the way it is mounted so I can mount the MIP. Here are a couple shots from a flight last night:

Well 2 more flights under my belt. Pretty happy overall. A little more tweaking with the visuals needs to be done but they look good. Going to update all the PM software today. Of course after I make backups of all the folders! lol

Well after a week flying other peoples sims I came home and went right back to work. My visuals are set up rather strangely as I have some heavy cutting to do in the front of the sim. I have been putting that off because it is going to make a HUGE mess when I do it. Having said that my visuals have never looked better! WOW! I am now starting work on the new MIP. So much to do  ;D Here are a couple pictures of the visuals as they stand:

In reality there are 4 but windows sees them as 3. With my older i7 second gen it is a pretty good hit on the frames. But I am keeping right around 20 at my lowest. (we will see if that holds true into KDFW! lol) I need to make some changes to the front of the sim so I can move the monitors all closer to the cab and then I can use a much nicer monitor layout. Right now there are some pretty holes in between the front and sides. And the pictures do not do it justice!  ;D
