I really wanted to go down the pro-garmin track, but it would also require purchasing a pro key for X-Plane.

Who knows though... If that thunderstorm of dollar bills ever falls from the sky, I may still do it.

For now, it's fun having a genuine GPS-esque system that works directly with X-Plane. All I needed was a USB to COM port converter ($37) Setup was easy and the only configuring I had to do was set X-Plane to output NMEA data on the selected COM port.
