Hi ,
Does anyone know if it is possible to disassemble Wemac Eyeball vents for cleaning, and if so , how to
Regards
Dave
Might be tricky without the proper tools, there is usually a retaining ring at the back. Maybe just let them soak in a degreaser or just try to put them with your dishes in the dishwasher...works wonders sometimes as long as they do not have nylon or plastic components
Thanks Jack,
They don't seem to have anything other than metallic components, so I think I'll try the dishwasher , next time my wife is out ;D
If you really want to take it apart, on the back there is metal tab sticking out, you need to pull that tab to remove a strip of spring steel that circles the inner vent and holds the felt seal in place.
Once its out you can rotate the inner ball to align with the notches in the body and it will come out.
Be advised these sorts are almost bloody impossible to put back together, especially that steel strip.
Id do what Jack suggested an try the dishwasher trick
Thanks Mick,
I'm not keen on a difficult reassembly , so dishwasher it is :)
Actually , I have managed to successfully disassemble and reassembly them.
Though I only did this after the Wemac light I have practically fell apart in my hands after I removed a broken lampholder from it, and this allowed it to rotate in to the "disassemble" position
