You know how we all worry about the correct colours for our sims, well I was looking for some decent shots of the Evac Panel to add to my overhead.
I got a good one from Airlines, net and I couldn't believe how many different shades there were on this overhead.
I've attached it for anyone who's interested.
Joe
Some people claim that these panels are different shades because of the fact that they're from different manufacturers - well this is completely false, as there is only one manufacturer for all of these panels ... SpectraLux.
The variation in shade you see in this picture is nothing but standard...lightest panel is always the electric meter, followed by the Gen/Drive panel which is a bit darker, than an even darker shade for the Nav/Display and Flt Control Panels. In regards to the F/O side, they're pretty much all the same shade of grey except for the DCPCS panel which is slightly lighter.
If you look at more overhead pics you will notice the exact same colour variation.
OK - some body tell me the madness behind the logic of using different shades for the panels :)
I can see it now, cabin pressurization failure, the F/O looks at the Captain and says, it's the lighter grey panel !!
Seems like I can use up the different pots of paint I have with impunity. ;D ;D
I can't wait to replicate all the dirty fingerprint marks on the panels... Don't they ever clean and shine all the panels 24/7. I mean really they have hours of flying in those things, couldn't they get the pledge/windex out.

Just one thing to consider though - won't these kind of detergents eat away the paint coats and promote corrosion?
OK Better yet, make all pilots wear white gloves.. the oil on their skin will cause and promote corrosion.
actully JAL do wear white gloves
The Japanese wear white gloves for everything.... hold that thought Trev 8) 8)

Hard to hold it now that you said it..... :D
It always makes me think, when I am cleaning up older parts - especially items that are touched directly like knobs & buttons etc, the gunk i am scraping out of these grooves id probably the dead skin cells & sweat of hundreds of different pilots :o :o

Why not just leave them As Is and not clean them? :) :)

Because i have gone to great expense to make everything look brand new, and any wear and tear that happens, I want to be my own. :D
