Title: Non-US Charts and Maps?
Post by: matta757 on July 23, 2010, 05:21:00 PM
Hey everyone,

Since I do most of my flying within the United States, I generally use the NOAA database for terminal procedures, SIDS and STARS and airport diagrams. However, I was wondering if there is an available database for airports outside of the United States? I am looking for any other regions, but specifically Canada, Europe and the Caribbean and South America. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Matt

Navigraph for approach plates ...not expensive
Sporty's for maps.

These are not free but the cost is reasonable

Probably some friends here will have other sources.
Cheers

Navigraph is a nice product if you only want a few airports or charts, however for Canada, I would suggest a mail order from NavCanada. you can buy the Canadian Air Pilot (CAP) for a large region which will provide you with all the star/sids etc for the region and they are reasonably priced ($20 CAD i think). The link will get you to the publications page. Browse around and see what you find.

Check out the web sites for individual flight regions on VATSIM too. They often have a few charts available for the major airports in their region

A lot of  European Countries make their AIP freely available on the internet. Some require you register, but it's free:

UK = http://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/public/index.php%3Foption=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=165&Itemid=3.html

Holland = http://ais-netherlands.nl/

Norway = http://www.ippc.no/norway_aip/current/main.html

France = http://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/html/frameset_aip_uk.htm

Spain = http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?Language=EN_GB&MO=2&SMO=1&SiteName=NavegacionAerea&c=Page&cid=1078418725020&pagename=subHome

There are many others, google the country name followed by AIP and you should find them no problem (eg Spain AIP)

Good finds guys.
I love paper charts, enough screens in the cockpit!
Thanks for the references.
I think we already had some posts about that....

Or you register (free) at the EuroControl website for all European charts.

http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/publicuser/public/pu/logout.do (http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/publicuser/public/pu/logout.do)

These charts are up-to-date.
