Title: Renaming BUO836X boards?
Post by: matta757 on August 22, 2010, 10:43:22 AM
Hey all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to rename the BUO836X boards so that when I plug them in, I know which is which? I am having a devilishly hard time keep track of them within FSUIPC and everything and would love to rename them based on their locations (ie, PEDESTAL, OVERHEAD-LEFT, OVERHEAD-RIGHT).

Anyone know how to do it?

Regards,
Matt

I think it's flashed into the ROM of the board Matt.  I know Leo offers a free service to rename it to whatever you want when you purchase but it can't be done within Windows.  It does get a unique USB assignment though which is what the likes of FSX & FSUIPC sees in order to differentiate controllers.

Ken.

You know your way around REGEDIT?

Type regedit in "Run". go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\MultifunctionAdapter\12\OtherController

or maybe your pc have a "joystickController" option under 12.
Find the BUO836X entry
Change the Identifier value

Don't blame me if your PC explodes :D Back up your system state before altering values!!!

Hi. tried this at home on my WIN7 system witch is also running a buo386x board. This board is called 737 TQ Revolution Simproducts.
Found it here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_1DD2&PID_2008

A bit different from my XP on work.

You can use the "Find" command in regedit to search for your card entry.

You can alter any info in the registry.
Or I could just say that I'm happy about the performance of my new CPU. Anybody else here got the new Boeing CPU?  ;D
